CPR/AED and First Aid Instructor

The 32BJ Training Fund is seeking qualified candidates for part-time Bilingual CPR/AED and First Aid instructors for classes taught in Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland. 

About us:

SEIU 32BJ is a service union that represents cleaners, maintenance workers, service staff, and security officers in nine states on the East Coast. Our mission is to educate every member so that they have the tools they need to meet the challenges of a changing industry.

Who we’re looking for:

• Creative, dynamic teachers with good interpersonal skills who enjoy working in diverse linguistic and cultural settings.
• Teachers who are looking to empower workers through industry skills education.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement lesson plans aligned to the program curriculum and incorporate the provided educational materials.
• Teach course content using a student-centered teaching approach.
• Maintain and submit records of attendance.
• Maintain ongoing communication with supervisor.
• Participate in relevant professional development activities, as available.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• English & Spanish fluency required.
• Flexible schedule - willing to work weekends and weekday evenings.
• CPR/AED/First Aid Certifications from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with students from various linguistic and cultural backgrounds.
• Ability to use digital platforms to instruct, communicate, and record program data.

COVID-19 Considerations

• Record of completed COVID-19 vaccine or confirmed medical/religious exemption from the organization.
• Compliance with current COVID-19 protocols of the organization

Schedule of Classes

• Mainly weekends however, sessions also run some weekdays and weeknights  

Location(s)

• Various locations in Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland

Compensation:   

• $75 per teaching hour for classes requiring instructor certifications
• $50 per hour for non-teaching activities such as professional development
• Paid preparation time
• Paid in-house training, coaching, and professional development opportunities
• Paid travel time to off-site/employer locations
• Accrued sick time.
