About this Opportunity

8 Rivers is seeking a Capital Management Associate to help drive financial analysis and strategic decision-making across a portfolio of innovative energy technologies and project development opportunities. This role is ideal for a finance professional who is excited to work at the intersection of capital, technology commercialization, and sustainability, and who wants to contribute to the deployment of transformative energy solutions.

This role involves building and refining investment cases and related financial models to support high-impact decisions and advance the company’s and client’s growth, commercialization, and decarbonization objectives.

This role is ideal for “hybrids," meaning candidates with both technical and finance backgrounds, or technical candidates with newly acquired business/finance degrees.

Responsibilities

  1. Build, maintain, and refine financial models for technologies, projects, and strategic initiatives. Develop scenarios and sensitivities to inform decision-making by project leads and executive leadership. Serve as an owner of financial models for specific technologies or projects, while contributing to corporate-level forward-looking pro forma analyses. Partner cross-functionally to refine assumptions and incorporate strategic, commercial, and technical inputs into model outputs.
  2. Support strategic transactions and capital formation efforts by preparing presentations and analyses that communicate the pro forma economics of technologies, projects, and corporate initiatives. Contribute to investor and partner materials at the project, technology, and corporate levels. Play a lead working-level role in diligence processes for prospective investors and transaction counterparties. Partner with Business Development to support origination efforts, proposal development, and evaluation of a range of transaction structures. Develop quantitative and qualitative analyses to assess investment alternatives for 8 Rivers’ technologies and projects.
  3. Engage with potential clients, investors, and strategic partners through outreach, analysis, and relationship management. Help build and maintain external relationships that support current and future commercial and financing opportunities.
  4. Conduct market and economic research on commodity markets, equipment trends, policy developments, and government incentives to validate key model assumptions and inform scenario and sensitivity analysis. Translate external market insights into actionable recommendations that support investment and project development decisions.
  5. Support Finance team in the budgeting and forecasting process by helping ensure that forward-looking financial plans align with near-term execution priorities, and in tracking and reporting project performance, including analysis of key financial drivers and forward-looking considerations.
