This role provides broad exposure to key areas of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, leave administration, compliance, training, onboarding, and teammate engagement.

This position is based in Temple, Texas. Candidates should reside within a 50-minute commute of the Temple area to support on-site collaboration and business needs.

What You’ll Do:

  • Partner with managers and teammates to provide day-to-day HR support and guidance.

  • Assist and observe in training programs to ensure compliance with McLane Company training practices and federal laws.

  • Facilitate mandatory training programs, including harassment and substance abuse prevention training, and coordinate specialized teammate training as needed.

  • Monitor and track FMLA and short-term disability attendance records.

  • Support workers' compensation administration, including initial interviews, work status reporting, light duty restrictions, and return-to-work coordination.

  • Monitor educational reimbursement and payroll deductions.

  • Coordinate teammate events and special programs, including campaigns, health fairs, recognition activities, and company-sponsored events.

  • Support HR leaders and managers with employment processes and ensure policies are applied fairly and consistently.

  • Manage requisitions and assist with recruitment activities, including job postings, career fairs, applicant screening, interview coordination, reference checks, and hiring support.

  • Manage vendor and service relationships that support workplace operations.

  • Coordinate onboarding activities and facilitate New Hire Orientation.

  • Maintain and update modules related to departmental leave, attendance, and payroll processes.

  • Promote teammate morale through engagement activities and communication.

  • Develop and deliver training for frontline leaders based on operational and business needs.

  • Support teammate connectivity, policy compliance, and workforce initiatives.

  • Track and manage safety violations and assist with safety-related programs.

  • Coordinate teammate meetings and serve as a resource for managers and teammates on HR-related matters.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 2+ years of Human Resources experience.

  • Experience supporting employee relations, leave administration, training, recruitment, or other core HR functions.

  • Hands-on experience providing training, coaching, and guidance to employees and leaders.

  • Working knowledge of FMLA, attendance management, workers' compensation, and HR compliance practices.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with teammates at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data, policies, procedures, and business information.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel; PowerPoint experience is a plus.

  • Experience with HR systems and technology platforms; Workday experience is preferred.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems professionally, diplomatically, and with sound judgment.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a diverse and dynamic business environment.
