A Duwamish Valley Hub Coordinator is a Limited Duration (LTD), part-time position scheduled for 20 hours per week for 24 months from the employee’s start date. In this role, you will support coordination of the Commission-approved Duwamish River Community Hub, the Port’s place-based economic development resource center in the Duwamish Valley. You will help ensure the Hub operates as a safe, welcoming, and accessible community space for community members, Port staff, and other facility users. You will primarily support reservations and events during evening and weekend shifts, with occasional coverage during weekday business hours, Monday through Friday.

  • You will support the day-to-day management, operation, and maintenance of the Duwamish River Community Hub, providing administrative and customer service support to community members, Port staff, tenants, and other facility users to promote a welcoming and positive experience.
  • You will work closely with the Duwamish Valley Program Coordinator to manage the Hub inbox, respond to and monitor rental requests, maintain a calendar of building use, communicate scheduled activities to designated Port representatives on a weekly basis, and coordinate weekly staffing schedules and facility coverage.
  • You will coordinate with prospective Hub users, the Duwamish Valley Program Coordinator, and other Port of Seattle teams to support the preparation and execution of Hub Use Contracts and help ensure facility use aligns with established agreements and operational objectives.
  • You will support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of accessible and inclusive community events, helping ensure the Hub is a safe, welcoming, and culturally responsive space for diverse community members and stakeholders.
  • You will support venue promotion and multicultural, multilingual communications and outreach to increase community awareness of the Hub as an economic development resource, with an emphasis on inclusive engagement, language access, and reaching communities that have historically been underserved.
  • You will coordinate with the Duwamish Valley Program Coordinator, the Sr. Program Manager of Duwamish Valley Engagement, Property Management, Marine Maintenance, and other Port staff to address building administration, purchasing, repairs, supplies, and maintenance needs. You will also help ensure facility operations comply with applicable governmental regulations and the terms and conditions of agreements with the Port, facility users, and subtenants.
  • You will help maintain positive relationships with tenants, community partners, and facility users, support user satisfaction, and contribute to the effective and efficient operation of the Hub in alignment with the Port’s operational objectives.
  • You will demonstrate a commitment to equity by applying inclusive practices, cultural competency, and an understanding of racial equity, language access, disability access, environmental justice, and economic justice in your work.
  • You will occasionally drive a Port-owned vehicle to pick up supplies from various Port locations to ensure the Hub is adequately stocked and prepared for scheduled events and activities.
  • You will perform other duties as assigned.
  • Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience in an external-facing outreach or customer service role focused on community engagement, and one (1) year of experience coordinating community events and supporting facility operations and maintenance.
  • Desired – We hope you have a High School diploma or GED Equivalent and have a valid Washington State Driver’s License.

  • Effective Communicator – You possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly, respectfully, and effectively with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
  • Collaborative Relationship-Builder –You demonstrate sound independent judgment and the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse community members, partners, and stakeholders. You bring a collaborative, partnership-focused approach to your work and contribute to a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment.
  • Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Tuesday–Friday, generally between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The schedule is variable and may change from week to week based on the Hub reservations. Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role. You may be required to work during emergencies. 
  • Work Environment – You will primarily work at the Duwamish River Community Hub in a fast-paced, community-focused environment. You will support community events and activities while assisting with day-to-day facility operations and responding to changing needs.
  • Limited Duration – This is a limited duration position, and the position will be in place for 24 months from the employee’s start date. 
  • Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
  • Overtime Eligible – You are eligible for overtime pay in this role.[AC1.1]
  • Safety Requirements – You will be required to comply with all work rules, safety, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
