The Learning Engagement Associate provides crucial support for the Office of Advancement’s learning, development and engagement strategies. This role will develop learning content and events for the Member Learning and Development program and the AAAS Learning Hub, develop and execute communication plans to drive traffic to select AAAS Learning Hub courses and other learning content, facilitate training for AAAS constituents, manage and assist with key engagement activities and events, and support the Senior Manager of Learning and Development, Director of Engagement and Senior Director of Membership in executing learning and development vision, goals and evaluation. The ideal candidate will have a passion for adult learning and share the AAAS vision to mobilize and empower our members and constituents by helping them speak up for science, engage in their communities, and go as far in their careers as their talent and drive can take them.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- Support the Senior Manager of Learning and Development in implementing a course development roadmap and content strategy for a multi-faceted learning and development portfolio that bolsters AAAS’s connection with our members and other scientists and engineers in alignment with AAAS budget and priorities and AAAS constituent learning needs.
- Support end-to-end development of courses, events and other learning offerings by sourcing, creating and maintaining content that incorporates adult learning best practices and relevant research, in collaboration with internal AAAS SME’s, external SME’s and learning development contractors, as relevant.
- Assist with executing marketing, communication and engagement tactics to increase AAAS Learning Hub users.
- Facilitate in-person and online live and pre-recorded trainings.
- Provide back-end technical and administrative support for setting up and maintaining courses in the Learning Hub for varying levels of pricing and user access.
- Support implementation of software and technology solutions for the AAAS Learning Hub in collaboration with IT and other internal partners.
- Support AAAS teams across the organization by consulting on and co-developing AAAS Learning Hub content for specific constituent groups with program partners, such as LSEN, STPF, CSEW, EurekAlert! and others as interest grows.
- Develop and manage a calendar of content and educational outreach for members, and identify new channels for outreach and marketing in partnership with the Director of Member Engagement
- Support learning and engagement events and webinars throughout the course of each year.
- Support in-person learning and engagement activities at the AAAS Annual Meeting.
- Assist the Senior Manager of Institutional Partnerships with learning and engagement activities that support the new Institutional Membership/Partnership business model.
- Assist with monitoring and evaluation to assess and improve Member Learning and Development strategy and the AAAS Learning Hub platform's business impact, user experience, and content quality according to industry standards and best practices.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in Learning Design and Technology or a related field
- 2-4 years of professional experience supporting a learning and development program.
- Instructional design experience, including familiarity with adult learning best practices and design models (i.e. ADDIE).
- Proficiency completing end to end course development using Articulate, RISE, SCORM files, Path LMS and/or other comparable learning development software and platforms.
- Facilitation experience with a strong desire to facilitate small- and large-scale trainings for audiences across career levels in a virtual or in-person environment. Experience with STEMM audiences preferred.
- Working knowledge of adult education market as well as marketing and communication best practices.
- Strong team player with customer service mindset and effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to travel ~10%
- Master’s degree in education, science or technology
- ATD Instructional Design Certificate, ATD Master Trainer, or similar
- Experience training scientists or engineers
- Experience at a non-profit organization or scientific society
- Experience organizing and staffing events.

The anticipated initial rate of compensation for this position is $65,000 - $78,000 per year. AAAS currently provides the following benefits for this position: paid vacation leave, paid sick leave, paid holidays, health insurance, flexible spending account, dental insurance, life insurance, vision insurance, retirement benefits, short- and long-term disability, each subject to the terms of the applicable program. Additional benefits may apply.
