We take great pride in the service and quality of work we provide to our customers and are searching for dedicated and motivated professionals to join our Vancouver team! 

We are looking for a highly organized Superintendent with extensive knowledge and proven leadership skills to plan, assign, and direct activities of assigned crews performing asphalting and concrete and asphalt projects. The Superintendent ensures profit goals are successfully met or exceeded on each crew and each job.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews the schedule and corresponding work orders. Directs foremen on job requirements providing detailed information regarding the scope of work.
  • Previews jobs in advance. Ensures proper equipment, tools, materials, trucking, and adequate manpower are available at specified times, to meet work schedules. Communicates with purchasing when special orders are needed to complete a job.
  • Oversees training of crews. Ensures all crew members are able to perform their job duties to specifications and in a safe manner. Recognizes when additional training is needed and provides hands-on training as necessary.
  • Oversees compliance with safety program requirements, performs weekly tailgate briefings, and ensures all accidents are reported, documented and submitted to the safety manager. Advises the safety manager when safety concerns and/or additional safety training is needed.
  • Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship meets specifications, quality and scheduled timelines. Communicates with the operations team when projects are completed early and/or additional time is needed to complete a project in order to make adjustments to the schedule.
  • Reviews completed work orders in Field Services for accuracy. Ensures all supporting documentation, including labor, materials, pictures, etc. are attached to the work order. Submits completed work orders to billing. Trains on how to properly complete work orders as necessary.
  • Meets with inspectors and customers to verify job scope is accurate as defined by project specifications. Makes adjustments to job scope at inspectors' and/or customers' request.
  • Schedules trucking, striping, and sealcoating as needed. Directs subcontractors, oversees compliance with our safety program, and oversees their quality of their work.
  • Notifies estimators, prior to the start of work, when bid projects do not match the estimated scope of work. Ensures all items are completed to the customer's satisfaction per the terms of the contract.
  • Performs quality control inspections regularly on completed work to ensure that workmanship meets quality expectations and specifications.
  • Reviews and approves timesheets and time off requests. Communicates with foremen and crew members to resolve discrepancies and trains on how to properly complete timesheets as necessary.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Provides training, appraises performance, gives positive feedback and disciplines employees.
  • Communicates with foremen and leads to address and resolve complaints and grievances within the workforce.

Requirements
