Essential Functions
- Registers or Pre-registers all scheduled patients for admission, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services.
- Verifies insurance coverage and obtains authorization for all services that requires authorization, pre-certification, and/or referral.
- Coordinates with patients and scheduling departments to reschedule procedures until authorization or patient payment can be arranged. Requests upfront payment of deposits from responsible party.
- Updates schedule for cancellations, rescheduling, and other changes on an ongoing basis.
Requirements
~1 min readHigh School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred. Accurate spelling and attention to detail required. Must be able to key 40 wpm. Knowledge of patient registration, insurance, and hospital billing preferred. Medical terminology knowledge and understanding of third party reimbursement preferred. Excellent communication skills and customer services skills required.
