This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life. Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including Chemistry, Electrolytes, Hematology, Blood Gases, Coagulation, Endocrinology, Cardiac Markers, Neurology, and Informatics. In this role you’ll have the chance to be responsible for the purchasing of i-STAT Cartridge raw materials to ensure customer order fill rate is maximized, and that expiry exposure and cost are minimized.
Responsibilities
~2 min readCreates and processes purchase orders, direct and indirect, in accordance with documented procurement processes to include, subcontract purchase orders, third party manufacturing orders, and purchase order changes.
Execute procurement plans, reports supplier performance, aligns with contracts, and processes purchase requests, while ensuring the timely and uninterrupted flow of materials between suppliers and site.
Communicates with Management and Stakeholders purchase order status.
Manages orders through completion and executes closures once fulfilled.
Interact with suppliers and is responsible for maintaining and enhancing good business relationship between Abbott and suppliers.
Communicate component specifications to suppliers.
Mitigate invoicing issues.
Updates vendor performance data.
Supports development of supplier scorecards and Service Level Agreements (SLA).
Manage the implementation of suppliers (including ensuring the ordering of appropriate first articles and validations).
Facilitate cost savings and quality improvement projects through purchasing.
Manages material master data in ERP.
Uses continuous improvement to establish metrics, drive KPIs, standardize and automate tactical activities over time.
Analyze material usage history and forecasts to implement statistical safety stock levels.
Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and drive the Return of Material (RMA) process.
Responsible for managing portfolio inventory cash flow target, balancing stock levels, expiry / distress exposure, supply risks and purchase price variance (PPV) to generate the best financial outcomes for the organization.
Provides audit support for purchasing policies and procedures.
Requirements
~2 min readBachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Supply Chain, Business, Science, Engineering or in a related field of study.
Minimum of zero to three years of professional experience in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Ideally, experienced managing Supply Chains with portfolios of over $25 million dollars per annum.
Advanced computer skills including MS Office in particular Excel and PowerPoint. Knowledge of MRP (QAD), Quality, MES software.
Ability to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative in dealing with a variety of duties and responsibilities.
Ability to build and use an effective network of people inside and/or outside the organization to give and receive information and to accomplish work objectives.
Capability to develop contingency plans, establish clear and measurable strategies, execute them consistently, and communicate risks.
Ability to go beyond purely operational tasks, demonstrating strong analytical skills, information interpretation, and sound decision making to drive continuous improvement and automation within your scope of work.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,250.00 to $86,900.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
