Investment Banker: Mining RPF

Job Summary

Opportunity to join Investment Banking Mining Project Finance team. Successful candidate will have relevant degree and 3–4 years’ experience in Investment banking (natural resources, project finance, or leveraged finance) with deep understanding of Mining finance, commodity finance, or structured lending. Exposure to mining transactions (debt, equity, or advisory) is strongly preferred

Transaction Execution

Support the execution of mining-related financing transactions, including:

Project finance (greenfield and brownfield developments)

Corporate and leveraged finance facilities

Structured commodity/offtake-linked financing

Manage transaction workstreams, including:

• Due diligence coordination (technical, ESG, legal, insurance)
• Financial structuring and lender engagement

Assist with preparation and review of:

•             Information memorandums

•             Credit papers and business committee submissions

•             Financing agreements and term sheets

 

Financial Analysis &. Modelling

Develop and maintain advanced financial models specific to mining assets:

Life-of-mine (LOM) models

Cash flow forecasting based on production profiles and commodity prices

Debt sizing and sculpting

Perform sensitivities on key variables:

•             Production

•             Commodity prices

•             Operating costs

•             FX rates and inflation

Assess credit metrics and project bankability:

•             DSCR (Debt Service Coverage Ratio)

•             LLCR (Loan Life Coverage Ratio)

•             Leverage ratio

•             Interest Coverage ratio

•             Breakeven prices and downside cases

 

Technical &. Sector Analysis

Work with independent technical consultants to understand:

Ore body characteristics

Mine plans and production schedules

Capex and opex assumptions

Evaluate key risks:

•             Geological risk

•             Jurisdictional/political risk

•             Environmental and ESG considerations

Track sector developments across commodities (PGMs, gold, coal, base metals, etc.)

 

Client Interactions    

Prepare high-quality client deliverables:

Pitch materials and financing proposals

Market updates and commodity insights

Participate in meetings with:

•             Mining corporates

•             Private equity sponsors

•             Technical advisors and lenders

Origination & Business Development

Identify and support origination opportunities, including:

•             M&A /acquisition related financing

•             Project development funding

•             Refinancing and extensions

 

Assist in developing tailored financing solutions (e.g., streaming, royalties, hybrid structures)

Team Oversight

Supervise Analysts on models and presentations

Review output for accuracy and quality

Support knowledge development within the team

Education

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
