Position Summary:
The Social Media Intern will assist in supporting the day-to-day functions of our organization. This is a hands-on opportunity for someone interested in nonprofit marketing and communications.

Responsibilities:

Support daily administrative tasks and organizational operations
Film, edit, and publish one short-form video/reel a week
Create engaging short-form video content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and Linkedin
Help promote our shelter’s programming, community events, and other initiatives through social platforms
Support efforts to maintain a consistent brand voice and presentation across social platforms
Stay current on social media trends, platform features, and evolving digital content practices
Monitor social media activity, audience engagement, and emerging trends to help identify new content opportunities
Assist with additional graphic design assignment as needed
Help capture photos of residents and programming as needed
Write social media copy as needed

Qualifications:

Some college or pursing a degree in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, broadcasting, public relations, or a related field
Available during standard weekly business hours (8am-5:00pm)
Strong interest in social media, digital content, broadcasting, journalism, or communications
Proficient in Canva and short-form video editing tools
Familiarity with social media platforms, particularly TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging social media copy
Creative mindset and an interest in visual and digital storytelling

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Social Media metrics evaluation
Effective written and verbal communication
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Comfortable using Microsoft Office.
Passion for social impact and nonprofit work

Preferred Skills:

Basic data analysis skills
Prior volunteer or internship experience in a nonprofit setting
