About the Role
~1 min readWe are seeking experienced, compassionate, and resilient Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting a participant in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Raceview, Ipswich.
This role involves providing person-centred support to an individual with complex mental health needs, including PTSD and behaviours of concern. Successful candidates will have experience supporting individuals who may display verbal and physical aggression and will be confident in applying trauma-informed and positive behaviour support approaches.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide personal care assistance, including hygiene, grooming, and daily living support.
- →Support the participant with household tasks, including meal preparation, cleaning, and laundry.
- →Implement individual support plans and behaviour support strategies.
- →Encourage independence, skill development, and community participation.
- →Build positive and professional relationships with the participant and their support network.
- →Maintain accurate documentation, progress notes, and incident reporting.
- →Promote the participant's dignity, choice, safety, and wellbeing at all times.
- →Respond appropriately to challenging situations while maintaining a calm and professional approach.
Requirements
~1 min read- Demonstrated experience supporting individuals with PTSD, complex mental health needs, and behaviours of concern.
- Experience working with verbal and physical aggression in a disability, mental health, or community services setting.
- Strong resilience and ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care and person-centred support practices.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Valid Australian Driver's Licence and reliable vehicle.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Mental Health, Community Services, or a related field.
- Previous experience working within a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
- Experience implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies.
- Medication administration competency.
