COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR

DEFINITION
The American Civil Liberties Union of Nevada (ACLU of Nevada) seeks applicants for a Community Engagement Coordinator in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a member of the ACLU of Nevada’s team, you will work cross-departmentally to achieve the mission of the organization.
This is an in-person, exempt, full-time position.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Salary is based on experience and qualifications. The starting salary range for this position is from $60,000.00 to $65,000.00 with benefits. Benefits include healthcare, vision, dental, 401(k) matching, and paid time-off.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We’re actively seeking a creative, collaborative, mission-driven community organizer to become our next Community Engagement Coordinator. The Community Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Recruiting, retaining, and developing volunteers to help effectuate issue-based campaigns to change public opinion on civil liberties throughout the state, including to help bolster voter protection efforts;
- Hosting and participating in community-based events that occur throughout the state, including during evenings and weekends;
- Working alongside the organizations multi-faceted teams to grow participatory efforts in potential efforts to advance justice;
Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Community Engagement Coordinator will:
- Facilitate highly engaging, participatory programming, training, and events for volunteers, turning ACLU-NV supporters into high-capacity volunteer leaders;
- Engage local and statewide volunteers to grow ACLUNV’s work;
- Strategize and execute campaign tactics to advance goals, mobilize constituents, and help advance justice;
- Expand and retain ACLUNV’s active volunteer base through outreach, recruitment, relationship-building, recognition, and ongoing engagement;
- Maintain volunteer support rhythms, including hosting volunteer leader calls and communication threads, and ensure volunteers have strong coordination and accountability systems; and
- Maintain volunteer management systems, digital outreach tools, and statistics.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
- Unwavering commitment to the mission and goals of the ACLU;
- Community organizing experience;
- Volunteer leadership experience and a demonstrative, dedicated history of community volunteerism;
- A history of working collaboratively and successfully with diverse people and organizations;
- Flexibility in hosting and participating in community based events that occur, including on evenings and on weekends at given times;
- Ability to travel across Nevada, as necessary, and participate in evening and weekend events. Proof of a valid driver’s license is required.
- Knowledge of the current civil rights landscape;
- Capacity to complete tasks and maintain focus in an often distracting environment;
- Willingness to move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds
- Ability to relocate if you’re outside of the metropolitan city of Las Vegas, Nevada.
