JOB SUMMARY & KEY PRIORITIES:
The Visual Brand Manager is a visual storyteller. They will bring thought leadership to how the face of Active Minds is portrayed to external audiences, including youth and young adults, supporters, and the general public. Key platforms in use by this position are Active Minds’ print and electronic collateral, website, email, and social media.
The Visual Brand Manager reports to the Senior Visual Brand Manager, as part of the Marketing and Communications department (MarComm), in addition to collaborating with other staff to express the Active Minds brand.

Through our presence in more than 1,000 high school and college campuses, communities, and workplaces, and with a wide-reaching public audience, Active Minds is creating communities of support and saving lives. Founded in 2003 by Alison Malmon after the tragic suicide of her brother, Brian, Active Minds is dedicated to supporting a new generation in ending the silence,helping to make mental health as highly valued as physical health. Brand Representation for Programs, Fundraising & Events (70%)
- Drive Active Minds’ visual strategy across all departments, delivering high-quality brand assets that elevate organization-wide public representation.
- Represent the Visual Brand team in cross-functional meetings as assigned to develop and manage visual strategy, scopes, design directions, reviews, and timelines.
- Lead creation of representative graphics and visuals to support online brand display, with expectation of replication to print and event materials (signage, print materials, etc.).
- Lead the integration of Active Minds’ visual brand into the programmatic materials, merchandise/SWAG and advertisements, event collateral, donor appeals, and chapter and partnership activities of Active Minds.
- Provide visual graphics for Active Minds’ blogs, emails, texting, and other communications mechanisms.
- Support the development of templates and other long-term initiatives to grow the Active Minds Brand in consistent and sustainable ways.
- Lead the collection and archiving of photos and videos across the organization.
- Assist with the development of and updates to Active Minds branding guidelines.
- Review and proof materials, ensuring branding guidelines are followed and materials are completed
Other duties as assigned (30%)
- Lead video production oversight in collaboration with CDMO, and/or produce simple video content for use in telling the organization’s story and mission.
- Create or coordinate fast response graphics for use across the organization, including for website pop-ups, social media, partnership proposals, and more.
- Potential for management of direct reports, interns and external contractors as opportunities arise.
- Support the project intake, capacity evaluation and management of visual design projects
- Propose ways for the design team to improve, taking into consideration budget, capacity, and sustainability conditions.
- A creative design eye and hand, with experience collaborating on design creation across teams.
- Accustomed to working on multiple projects with different deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, and in writing, and with fellow staff members.
- Stickler for details and quality.

You need to have:
- Degree in Graphic Design (or equivalent work experience, demonstrated through a portfolio).
- 4+ years of related visual brand and/or graphic design experience.
- Experience in a management role.
- Demonstrated grasp of design concepts, with an emphasis on typography skills.
- Knowledge of and experience in nonprofit marketing and communications efforts.
- Experience with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, as well as Canva and other design tools.
- Experience designing both digital and print materials.
- Full digital-literate, including Microsoft and Google products, and online meeting tools.
- Experience with CRM systems (ex. Salesforce) and other databases a plus.
- Photography, photo, and video editing skills a plus.
- Experience with Figma a plus.
What We Offer
~2 min readThis position offers an initial salary range of $68,250–$77,700 along with robust benefits. The starting pay for this position is equal to others at the same level throughout the organization. Candidates whose experience meets both the minimum and preferred qualifications may be considered for a starting salary that exceeds the current amount. The role sits within Active Minds Level 3 salary band, and as such, has the potential to grow to $96,600 over time. FLSA Status: Exempt.
