What We Offer

- Demonstrates understanding and adheres to Chemical Hygiene plan and Infection Control policies.
- May include transport of hazardous waste from the point of generation to a designated secure storage area; employee will be required to complete initial training (prior to handling hazardous waste) and refresher training to include proper handling and transport of hazardous waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
- Performs microscopic evaluation and reporting of negative gynecological cytology preparations.
- Evaluates and formulates an opinion for the pathologist on abnormal gynecological thin layer, non-gynecological, and fine needle aspiration slide preparations.
- Correlates current cases with previous cytologic specimens where indicated.
- Conducts pre-and post-analytical activities related to tests, including specimen collection and processing, quality control, equipment maintenance, inventory control, quality assurance, and proficiency testing procedures.
- May perform molecular testing and/or ancillary testing from specimen vials, correlating with morphologic findings.
- Completes routine screenings for cell specimens, reports results, and documents daily workload records.
- Processes specimens for analysis according to specifications related to the type of specimen.
- Assists in the collection and processing of fine needle aspiration specimens.
- Demonstrates expertise in patient preparation, sample requirements, specimen collection, and pre-analytical factors impacting sample quality.
- Documents and submits required laboratory, departmental, and staff statistics/reports.
- May assist in the collection of data for research or publication of papers and evaluates published professional literature.
- Participates in special projects and provides direction to clinical laboratory trainees.

- Bachelor's [Required]
- Master's [Preferred]
- Successful completion of a CAAHEP accredited cytology or cytotechnology program OR certified by a certification agency approved by HHS OR qualified and served as a cytotechnologist in a CLIA-certified laboratory as of December 28, 2024, and have done so continuously since December, 28, 2024. Required
