The Registered Dietitian applies the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Nutrition Care Process (NCP) to assess, diagnose, develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans. This position provides Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), nutrition counseling, patient education, and nutrition-related interventions to support positive patient outcomes. The Registered Dietitian collaborates with physicians, nurses, pharmacists, case managers, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
Essential Responsibilities
Conduct comprehensive nutrition assessments through medical record review, patient interviews, nutrition-focused physical examinations, anthropometric measurements, and evaluation of clinical data.
Develop, implement, monitor, and document individualized nutrition care plans using evidence-based practice standards and the Nutrition Care Process.
Provide Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT), nutrition education, counseling, and referrals to support patient health goals.
Monitor patient progress and modify nutrition interventions as appropriate.
Document nutrition assessments, diagnoses, interventions, and monitoring activities within the electronic health record.
Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and collaborate with healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
Assist with discharge planning and transitions of care related to nutrition needs.
Serve as a nutrition resource for patients, families, clinical staff, and foodservice personnel.
Support quality improvement initiatives, performance improvement activities, research projects, and regulatory compliance efforts.
Assist in the orientation, training, and supervision of dietetic interns, registration-eligible dietitians, dietetic technicians, and new team members.
Develop and maintain patient education materials and clinical resources.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition, Food and Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, or a related field.
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential required.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy and evidence-based nutrition practices.
Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHRs) and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
Clinical nutrition experience in an acute care, outpatient, or healthcare setting.
Experience with interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Additional specialty certifications related to nutrition practice.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of Medical Nutrition Therapy, the Nutrition Care Process, and evidence-based nutrition practices.
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to provide culturally sensitive nutrition counseling and education.
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently.
Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may include:

Occasionally lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling materials and supplies consistent with patient care and departmental needs.
