Position Summary
The Part-Time Visitor Center Attendant welcomes visitors, answers questions, provides tourism information, and assists with the daily operation of the visitor center. The attendant promotes local attractions, accommodations, restaurants, parks, historic sites, and community events while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting facility.

Position Summary
The Part-Time Visitor Center Attendant welcomes visitors, answers questions, provides tourism information, and assists with the daily operation of the visitor center. The attendant promotes local attractions, accommodations, restaurants, parks, historic sites, and community events while maintaining a clean, organized, and inviting facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome visitors and provide outstanding customer service.
- Offer information, maps, brochures, and recommendations regarding local attractions, dining, lodging, shopping, outdoor recreation, and community events.
- Answer telephone calls, emails, and visitor inquiries professionally and courteously.
- Maintain knowledge of local businesses, attractions, festivals, and regional tourism opportunities.
- Assist visitors with directions and travel planning.
- Restock brochures, maps, promotional materials, and visitor guides.
- Keep the visitor center clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
- Open and close the visitor center according to established procedures.
- Operate the point-of-sale system, if applicable, and accurately process retail sales, admissions, or donations.
- Maintain accurate visitor counts and compile daily visitor statistics.
- Assist with inventory of merchandise and promotional materials.
- Help promote county or community events through displays and visitor engagement.
- Monitor the facility for safety and report maintenance concerns.
- Perform general administrative tasks including filing, copying, and data entry.
- Assist with special events, festivals, or tourism initiatives as assigned.
- Represent the community in a positive, professional, and welcoming manner.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and email.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced public environment.
- Experience in customer service, hospitality, tourism, retail, or public relations.
- Familiarity with the local community, attractions, parks, businesses, and history.
- Experience handling cash or operating a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to stock shelves and arrange displays.
- Frequent walking, reaching, bending, and light lifting.
- Part-time, generally 16 hours per week.
- Saturday and Sunday operating hours. Some weekday afternoons as needed throughout the week.
- Flexible schedule may be required during festivals, tourism events, and peak travel seasons.
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
- Knowledge of local tourism resources and community assets.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when appropriate.
- Ability to solve visitor concerns professionally and efficiently.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Success in this position is measured by:
