AgroFresh is seeking a Global Tax – Senior Manager to lead and optimize the company’s global tax function in support of a value creation and cash optimization agenda. This role is responsible for owning and coordinating the Company’s global tax calendar, provision process and advisor management to ensure disciplined execution and driving efficient tax outcomes across a complex, multinational footprint.
Operating within a lean, co-sourced model, the Global Tax – Senior Manager will provide practical tax support to Finance and the business while leveraging service providers and specialists for complex, cross-border planning, transfer pricing, and transactions. This role requires a hands-on leader who can operate at both a strategic and executional level in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
This individual will serve as a key advisor to the CFO, CAO, and executive leadership team, and will play an important role in supporting private equity stakeholders, transaction activity, and exit readiness.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Co-develop and execute global tax strategies aligned with cash flow optimization, EBITDA enhancement, and enterprise value creation
- →Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities and drive actionable solutions
- Work with outside providers to design and implement transfer pricing strategies to support profit alignment, cash repatriation, and value optimization
- Partner with Treasury to execute tax-efficient global cash movement strategies
- Partner with Operations and Sales to implement and optimize intercompany pricing strategies
- Work with outside providers to optimize legal entity structures and intellectual property ownership to support business objectives
- Oversee transfer pricing compliance and defend positions with supporting documentation
- Own the global income tax provision (ASC 740), including effective tax rate management and financial disclosures
- Oversee preparation and review of tax provisions and reporting deliverables prepared by external advisors (EY)
- Ensure accurate accounting for uncertain tax positions (FIN 48)
- Support financial close cycles and maintain high-quality, audit-ready documentation
- Oversee global income and indirect tax compliance across all jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency
- Manage EY and other external providers, including scope, deliverables, performance, and cost control
- Review and approve filings and ensure alignment with company strategy and positions
- Work with outside providers to lead tax audits and regulatory interactions, including development of defense strategies
- Establish and maintain a strong tax governance framework, including SOX compliance and internal controls
- Enhance processes, controls, and documentation to support scalability and sponsor expectations
- Evaluate and implement tax technology solutions to improve efficiency and transparency
- Build a fit-for-purpose tax function that balances internal capability with external leverage
- Bachelor’s degree and/or advanced degrees in accounting and taxation; CPA (equivalent chartered accountant accreditation) or MBA a plus.
- 8-10+ years of tax planning, accounting and compliance experience including global oversight responsibilities for transfer pricing and tax efficient cash mobility in international subsidiaries.
- Experience with Big 4 firms and outsourced tax models
These skills and experiences are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual’s performance history and demonstrated potential.
- Strong knowledge of US statutory and GAAP/IFRS accounting, FAS109/ASC740, FIN48/ASC740-10, understanding of tax effect of a 338(h)(10) transaction and applicable authoritative literature.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to operate in a multi-task, deadline driven, global matrix environment, work independently, and effectively manage staff.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, driving results with internal stakeholders and external service providers.
- Extensive experience in M&A tax due diligence, planning, and integration.
- Working knowledge of financial and tax systems, such as SAP, Hyperion, OneSource, is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Power Point presentation.
