Job Title: Full Professor/Associate/Assistant Professor of Electrical Engineering and Robotics

The successful candidate will be an innovative academic, active scholar, and educator with the ability to integrate emerging technologies, current industry practices, and research-driven applications into engaging classroom and laboratory experiences. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrated expertise in robotics and one or more related areas, including cyber-physical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), image processing, robot vision, and hardware-integrated systems. The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching, research, curriculum development, student success, and academic service while supporting the University's mission and continuous quality improvement initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, student-centered instruction in undergraduate and graduate Electrical Engineering and Robotics courses.
  • Develop and deliver engaging laboratory experiences that incorporate current technologies, industry best practices, and practical engineering applications.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of core Electrical Engineering principles across teaching and research activities.
  • Contribute to service teaching and interdisciplinary teaching assignments as required.
  • Coordinate assigned courses and ensure consistency in course delivery, learning outcomes, and assessment practices.
  • Develop, review, and continuously improve curricula, course materials, and assessment strategies.
  • Supervise undergraduate capstone projects, design projects, and research activities.
  • Maintain an active and sustainable research agenda through peer-reviewed publications, scholarly activities, and collaborative research initiatives.
  • Mentor students and support their academic, professional, and research development.
  • Collaborate effectively with faculty across disciplines in teaching, research, and academic initiatives.
  • Participate actively in departmental, school, and university committees, governance, and service activities.
  • Engage in continuous professional development to maintain expertise in emerging technologies, pedagogy, and research.
  • Support departmental efforts in preparing for, achieving, and maintaining regional and international accreditation standards, including ABET.
  • Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and diverse learning environment while contributing effectively within a dynamic and fast-paced academic setting.

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Robotics Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Professor in accordance with AIU's faculty appointment criteria.
  • Demonstrated expertise in robotics, with particular strength in hardware-integrated systems.
  • Strong knowledge of core Electrical Engineering principles.
  • Prior teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
  • Evidence of effective student-centered teaching and sound assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and continuous program improvement.
  • Experience supervising undergraduate design projects, capstone projects, and student research.
  • Established research record with peer-reviewed publications and a clear, sustainable research trajectory.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary academic environment.
  • Experience contributing to departmental, school, and university service.
  • Familiarity with regional and international accreditation processes, including ABET.
  • Experience working effectively with a diverse university community.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English are required.
  • Proficiency in Arabic is considered an asset but is not required.
