The School of Engineering and & Computing at the American International University in Kuwait comprises the departments of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The school offers Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees in Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering.  The school is committed to providing excellence in education through highly qualified faculty members with extensive backgrounds and experience.”   

Position Summary

 The School of Engineering and Computing invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Mechanical Engineering at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in teaching, maintain an active research profile, and engage with emerging technologies and methodologies. Responsibilities include undergraduate teaching, curriculum development, student mentorship, research, and institutional service, while contributing to a collaborative, inclusive, student-centered, and multicultural academic environment. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Teach undergraduate Mechanical Engineering courses with a focus on practical and industry-based learning. 
• Integrate industry practices, engineering projects, standards, codes, and real-world case studies into teaching. 
• Use modern engineering tools and technologies, including AI, CAD, CAM, simulation, automation, robotics, and data analysis. 

• Teach and support key areas of Mechanical Engineering, including design, manufacturing, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, materials, mechanics, HVAC, and energy systems. 

• Support curriculum development, accreditation, assessment, and continuous improvement. 
• Collaborate with faculty and industry on applied research, consulting, innovation, and engineering projects. 

Required Qualifications 

• PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution. 
• Minimum 5 years of university-level teaching experience, with demonstrated excellence in teaching and student engagement. 
• Strong knowledge of current Mechanical Engineering practices, standards, and technologies.

• Proficiency with relevant engineering software and tools, such as CAD, CAM, simulation, automation, or data analysis. 
• Excellent communication, mentoring, teamwork, and organizational skills in English.

• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teaching and research. 

• Ability to integrate diverse cultural and ethical perspectives into the curriculum. 

• Commitment to fostering an inclusive, multicultural academic environment that engages a diverse student body.
