Senior Assistant, Institute for Educational Development

Location: Karachi, Pakistan

​Introduction  

Aga Khan University, chartered in 1983 as Pakistan's first private international university, is committed to the provision of education, research, and health care of international standards relevant to Pakistan and the region. The affiliated Aga Khan University Hospital provides state-of-the-art clinical facilities and well-equipped diagnostic services. The University currently has teaching sites in Pakistan, East Africa, the United Kingdom, and Afghanistan, and is a major component of the Aga Khan Development Network.

The Aga Khan University Institute for Educational Development (AKU-IED) was established in July 1993 with the overall objective of becoming a leader in educational reform and improvement, especially in developing countries. AKU-IED aims to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of schools and other educational institutions in the country through innovation, policy development, practice, training, and research.

This is a grant-funded contractual position.

Responsibilities:         

You will be responsible to:

  • develop and maintain a calendar for meetings
  • communicate with the project team and other stakeholders regarding events and activities
  • take notes and prepare meeting minutes
  • prepare work schedules and travel plans for the project team
  • arrange resources (stationery) for meetings and other events
  • assist the Programme Coordinator in organising events, including logistics and communication
  • assist the Project Coordinator, Programme Lead, and Team Leads in obtaining and preparing relevant documents for review
  • attend events (e.g. training events, workshops) as and when required
  • undertake other relevant tasks as assigned by the supervisor, Programme Lead, Team Leads, and team members.

Requirements:

You should have:

  • a bachelor’s degree from a reputable national or international university; a higher qualification will be an added advantage
  • at least one year of experience, preferably in performing tasks related to day-to-day project operations
  • good interpersonal and communication skills in written and spoken English and Urdu
  • ability to prepare work schedules and itineraries
  • ability to organise events, including logistics and communication
  • ability to work in a team
  • proficiency in MS Office and Excel
  • ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
