Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor - Human Development Programme

The Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor is responsible for academics, research, and other activities of Human Development Programme (HDP). The role entails high-quality teaching, active research involvement, and participation in other initiatives that support mission and growth of HDP. A major responsibility is for activities of Master of Early Child Development program (MECD).

Aga Khan University invites applications for the position of Senior Instructor/Assistant Professor in the Human Development Programme.

The incumbent will be participating in multidisciplinary teaching and research activities undertaken in AKU-HDP. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

You will be responsible for:

• →Leading and supporting multidisciplinary research projects within HDP, ensuring timely implementation of activities. 
• →Publishing research in peer-reviewed journals, contribute book chapters, produce consolidated reports, and actively present at academic and professional events. 
• →Supporting faculty and teaching teams in course scheduling, resource organization, and instructional coordination.
• →Assisting the MECD Program Director in all academic and administrative functions, ensuring smooth planning, delivery, and evaluation of MECD courses. 
• →Participating in academic leadership and educational management activities such as chairing committees and designing/leading degree and non-degree programs. 
• →Building and maintaining collaborations with government and non-government organizations on issues of early childhood and human development. 
• →Identifying and exploring external funding opportunities to support research initiatives. 
• →Ensuring that all research activities are conducted in compliance with university policies, ethical standards, and institutional guidelines. 
• →Engaging in ongoing professional development, keeping up-to-date with advancements in ECD and higher education. 
• →Undertaking travel within and outside the country as and when needed for teaching, research, and development work.

You should have:

• Masters/Doctoral degree in Early Childhood Development (ECD), Psychology, Neuroscience, Social Sciences, Humanities, Education or MBBS with FCPS
• Minimum 2–3 years of teaching experience at university or college, preferably in Early Childhood Development or closely related academic programs.
• Experience of curriculum development and implementation, student mentoring, and academic advising.
• Expertise of research activities, including scholarly publications, conference presentations, participation in collaborative research projects at national or international level.
• Strong ability to develop research proposals and secure research funding from internal or external sources.
• Proven ability to write high-quality academic papers, reports, and scholarly documents. 
• Fluent oral and written communication skills in English. 
• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, and team-building abilities. 
• Ability to supervise, mentor and guide research activities. 
• Good knowledge of educational leadership, program management, and institutional development. 
• Proficiency in using relevant computer applications and software, including academic, research, and data-analysis tools.
