Quick Summary
At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients.
At Alamar, we are passionate about enabling our customers to make scientific discoveries that translate into clinical outcomes and benefit patients. Our team is growing quickly as we develop innovative approaches to measure critical protein biomarkers from liquid samples that can enable the earliest possible detection of disease. We believe the next frontier in biology is enabled by measuring proteins at higher sensitivity in highly multiplexed assays at the push of a button, which is something only Alamar can do. As we build our team, we seek collaborative, driven, intellectually curious people committed to solving complex challenges. Our culture rewards accountability and cross functional teamwork because we believe this enables the kind of breakthrough thinking that will accelerate our mission.
We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist I to join the Content Development team. In this role, you will support the development, optimization, characterization, and execution of NULISA-based immunoassays and multiplex proteomic panels across diverse disease areas, from early feasibility through customer sample testing. You will work closely with cross-functional partners including R&D, Manufacturing, Bioinformatics, and related teams to ensure robust assay performance and high-quality deliverables.
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on immunoassay execution skills, a solid foundation in data analysis, and the operational discipline that multiplex work demands: managing many reagents and samples at once, keeping complex experiments organized and traceable, and delivering reliable data on tight timelines.
Primary Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and optimization of multiplex proteomic panels, including Alamar's own NULISAseq panels as well as custom panels for external collaborators, across various disease areas to support biomarker discovery, validation, and translational research.
- Manage reagent logistics for panels with up to thousands of components (antibodies, conjugates, recombinant antigens, calibrators, controls), including inventory, lot tracking, aliquoting, storage, and stability; coordinate material supply with Manufacturing and R&D.
- Characterize assay performance for each target, including calibration curves, LLOQ, precision, dilution linearity, spike recovery, and parallelism; evaluate reagent lot-to-lot and instrument-to-instrument consistency.
- Run sample testing studies, including sample receipt and tracking, plate mapping, and reconciliation of sample manifests, run records, and QC reports.
- Analyze and interpret assay data, including data processing, normalization, QC, and statistical evaluation of multi-plate datasets; work with Bioinformatics to summarize results and present findings to internal teams and external collaborators.
- Troubleshoot technical challenges via root-cause analysis across reagent, instrument, sample, and operator factors, and implement corrective strategies.
- Develop and maintain critical documentation, including SOPs, reagent preparation records, and assay transfer documents, and provide input to PRDs, to support product development and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to advance projects and share technical insights with the team.
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline; M.S. with 2–5 years of experience will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience with immunoassays or multiplex assay platforms (e.g., Luminex, MSD, Olink, Ella, SomaLogic, etc.).
- Demonstrated experience running multiplex or high-throughput studies involving large numbers of reagents and samples, with strong organizational skills and meticulous record keeping (e.g., reagent inventories, lot tracking, ELN).
- Working knowledge of assay development and validation parameters (e.g., LLOQ, precision, linearity, spike recovery, parallelism).
- Proficiency in Excel and/or R or Python for processing and QC of multi-plate datasets.
- Experience with antibody conjugation, recombinant protein handling, or lab automation (e.g., liquid handlers) is a plus.
- Familiarity with molecular biology methods (e.g., qPCR, ddPCR, or NGS) is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail in experimental execution.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and timelines in parallel, work collaboratively, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, including data presentation and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of biomarker research or clinical sample testing is desirable.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $120,000 - $140,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
