Albedo is making Very Low Earth Orbit (VLEO) mainstream, building the infrastructure to usher every satellite mission set into this new orbital domain. We build buses, integrated satellites, and turnkey missions for customers to thrive in VLEO, between 250 km - 400 km, where proximity compounds performance and drag self-cleans debris.

As part of the first 100 employees at Albedo, you will have a big impact on Albedo’s trajectory to proliferating VLEO — whether you’re advancing hardware to increase satellite longevity, scaling production for large constellations, building next-gen flight and ground software to push performance, or enabling missions that matter for national security and our day-to-day life here on earth.

How We Operate: Albedo takes a first-principles approach — in space and in business. We move with speed, take calculated risks, and learn quickly. We use AI regularly to create leverage in every discipline across the company. We work in-person at our Broomfield CO HQ to maximize team and company productivity. We work hard and with urgency to compound our first-mover advantage.

Who We're Looking For: Builders who want to own outcomes, not tasks. Systems thinkers who balance precision with iteration while thinking about the big picture. Individuals who are energized by creating a category rather than competing in an existing one. You’ll join a team that has already proven what others said wasn’t feasible and is now scaling and upgrading our VLEO buses & payloads to serve mission sets across sensing, communications, and responsive operations.

If you can feel the excitement running through your veins, apply to be one of the Bedo 100.

Albedo is looking for a technical lead for power and analog electrical engineering on our avionics and spacecraft-power programs. You own electrical architecture across programs (EPS, bus regulation, battery management, isolated supplies, analog signal chains, and board- and box-level electrical design), set EE technical direction alongside engineering management, and drive the next generation of what our electronics can do. You lead through architecture, design review, and mentoring, with the day-to-day design work delegated to other engineers. You stay hands-on as time allows, taking the hard and high-stakes design work yourself.

Requirements

~2 min read
  • 10+ years of electrical-engineering experience
  • BSEE required (MSEE preferred)
  • Extensive end-to-end hardware-design experience: multiple designs taken from concept through production
  • Deep power and analog expertise: DC/DC (buck / boost / flyback), battery management, bus regulation, isolated supplies, analog signal-chain and mixed-signal design; first-principles thermal, transient, and efficiency analysis
  • High-voltage DC power design, including isolation, protection, and creepage/clearance discipline
  • Solid grasp of digital architecture: enough to partner on the electrical interfaces and mixed-signal boundaries to FPGA / avionics and flight software
  • Hands-on schematic capture AND PCB layout on complex multi-layer designs, plus a working command of signal integrity and power integrity (controlled impedance, return paths, stackup, decoupling), and the judgment to review others' designs
  • EMI/EMC understanding: design for electromagnetic compatibility, grounding, shielding, filtering, and control of conducted/radiated emissions
  • Strong lab / hands-on skills: power measurement, standard bench instruments, board bring-up and debug
  • A track record of setting technical direction and mentoring other engineers
  • Helps enforce EE design-review discipline: holds designs to the standard and gates reviews before release
  • A working understanding of the space environment and what radiation does to ICs (TID and single-event effects / SEE: SEU / SEL / SET) and how that drives part selection, derating, and design margin
  • Experience flying COTS parts in space: using commercial parts in the radiation environment safely (rad-tolerance by design, upscreening / lot testing, architecture-level mitigation) instead of defaulting to expensive rad-hard, and knowing when a rad-hard part is genuinely required
  • Space / avionics rigor: parts derating and stress analysis, reliability, design margin for flight electronics
  • Works cross-functionally with FPGA / avionics, flight software, mechanical / thermal, and systems teams
  • Supports proposals when needed: EE/power architecture concepts, power budgets, compliance-matrix input, and rough BOM/cost for new-business responses
  • A push-the-envelope mindset: always looking for new, cheaper, faster, more-reliable ways to build exquisite capability at a fraction of the cost
  • On-site in Broomfield, CO

Nice to Have

  • Motor-control power stages (brushless-motor drive electronics)
  • Altium experience specifically (we use Altium and can teach the tool; the capture/layout skill above is what's required)
  • MSEE
  • Python for test automation and analysis tooling
  • Automated parts-stress / derating tooling
  • Experience using AI tools in daily engineering work: LLM assistants for design, review, analysis, and documentation
