The Classification and Compensation Specialist will work directly with the HR Manager of Classification & Compensation to evaluate and communicate salary offers, conduct job analysis, and administer the classification and compensation system for the organization, ensuring jobs are evaluated appropriately and that compensation practices is fair and equitable.
This position will allow the successful candidate to work a schedule that will be primarily remote. While there is no expectation of being in the office routinely, they will be required to come into the Alliance Office for business and team meetings as needed.
Responsibilities

- →Review qualifications and salary equity to make recommendations on salary offers and adjustments
- →Conduct compensation review and salary analysis and make recommendations on salary offers for new hires, promotions, transfers, and demotions
- →Maintain documentation of decision making
Conduct Job Analysis
- →Interview and survey employees and managers to gather and document job information
- →Conduct job evaluations and analysis for existing and proposed jobs to establish compensation and classification
- →Assess jobs and their respective duties to determine classification, FLSA status, and appropriate salary range
- →Assist with preparation and maintenance of classification specifications
- →Prepare and maintain job descriptions for each position in the organization ensuring descriptions accurately reflect the work being performed and appropriate requirements
Position Classification/Position Management
- →Setup and maintain job description documentation and entries into the HRIS system
- →Set up and maintain budgeted position information in the HRIS system
- →Conduct audits of the HRIS system job and position entries as needed to ensure their accuracy within the organization
- →Review and enter personnel actions into the HRIS system ensuring compliance with standards and regulations
Assist with Maintenance of Classification/ Compensation Plan and Compensation Surveys
- →Gather data from market-based compensation surveys and analyze to assess market trends and organization competitiveness
- →Participate in salary surveys as needed; ensure alignment of jobs with survey data. Research comparable market pay rates to assess relationship to compensation plans
- →Evaluate and recommend classification, salary, grade and range structure updates
Facilitate and Maintain Pay Actions
- →Review and process special pay requests and manage all subsequent updates
- →Respond to inquiries from staff, Human Resource team members and managers in a timely and courteous manner
- →Participate in processing mass salary/rate increases, pay adjustments and cost-of-living adjustments; perform a wide-range of calculations to validate the accuracy of mass salary/rate increases and pay adjustments and identify any needed updates to employee records
Collaborate with Internal and Externals Customers
- →Provide excellent customer service and guidance on classification and compensation practices to HR team members, employees, and managers
- →Provide subject matter expertise within the context of compensation and may provide training, work direction and guidance to other HR teams and employees
General HR
- →Assist with information gathering and reporting as needed
- →Assist with HR audits and various classification and compensation projects as needed; maintain classification data and history files
- →Maintain compliance standards for HR record keeping
- →Serve as backup for the Classification & Compensation Manager when needed
- →Maintain up to date information on the HR Classification and Compensation website
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field from an accredited college/university and two (2) years of experience in Human Resources with a primary focus on classification and compensation, including working in an integrated HRIS systems.
Preferred:
Experience working in Human Resources for State or Local Government in North Carolina

Salary Range
$61,439 - $79,871/ Annual
Exact compensation will be determined based on the candidate's education, experience, external market data and consideration of internal equity
