ALTEN Mexico as a subsidiary of the ALTEN Group. Currently working with international clients, and we are looking for a Plastics Engineer will support the evaluation and implementation of advanced exterior components and manufacturing technologies and support composite development with HV Battery Housings. The role focuses on lightweight, Class-A-capable systems such as fascias, aerodynamic devices, claddings, underbody shields, closures, exterior body panels, as well as structural plastic concepts. The engineer will provide expertise in polymeric and composite materials, process selection, Class-A feasibility, Design to Manufacturing, thermal performance, aerodynamics, and exterior acoustics.

Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Evaluate exterior concepts based on performance, appearance, mass, cost, investment, timing, sustainability, and manufacturing feasibility.
- →Provide expertise in TPO, TEO, GF-PP, nylon, engineering thermoplastics, SMC, and carbon-fiber composites.
- →Assess injection molding, compression molding, thermoforming, vacuum forming, prepreg molding, autoclave processing, bonding, painting, and secondary assembly.
- →Lead Class-A feasibility reviews addressing surface quality, part break up, fiber print-through, gloss, warpage, sink, parting lines, draft, gating, and attachments.
- →Review CAD, sections, drawings, GD&T, tolerance stack-ups, and component interfaces; support DtM and Design for Assembly reviews.
- →Evaluate thermal exposure, solar loading, aerodynamic loads, airflow management, material expansion, wind noise, and aero-acoustic performance.
- →Coordinate structural, thermal, CFD, mold-flow, and acoustic analyses; support suppliers, prototypes, tooling trials, validation, and risk closure.
- →Develop technology comparisons and recommendations covering cost, mass, investment, maturity, performance, and timing.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of automotive exterior, plastics, or composites experience.
- Experience with multiple exterior polymers, injection or compression molding, and Class-A automotive components.
- Knowledge of tooling feasibility, painting, bonding, fastening, GD&T, DFMEA, DVP&R, tolerance analysis, and CAD review.
- Preferred: carbon-fiber Class A, low-volume vehicles, SMC/prepreg/autoclave, NX/Teamcenter, CFD, mold-flow, thermal, or aero-acoustic experience.
