Wood Shop Technician - CTR

The Wood Shop Technician is an entry level position requiring minimal knowledge of millwork standards and practices. A basic working knowledge of carpentry or construction experience is preferred. The Wood Shop Technician will primarily focus on the fabrication of the various parts necessary to create finished carpentry products and then assemble them, including but not limited to:

· Millwork

· Furniture and

· Decorative Pieces

· The manufacturing of finished carpentry and furniture.

· Work diligently to meet strict design specifications and premium aesthetic quality standards.

· Monitor inventory to inform the Supervisor when purchasing materials and supplies may be necessary.

· Maintain and clean all tools and equipment.

· Ensure that their work area (and adjacent work areas) are kept clean.

· Responsible for maintaining a safe working environment by enforcing OSHA regulations, PPE compliance, and machine guarding.

· Train and mentor newer technicians.

· Attends workshops, meetings, and training as requested by Furniture Shop Manager.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required:

· High School Diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) or equivalent training or work experience.

· Technical Skills: Comfortable with the use of powered and non-powered tools and equipment.

· Ability to follow directions and respect leadership.

· All other duties as assigned.

Required:

· Current valid CPR and First Aid certification.

· Current valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle for the occasional material transport or site visits.

· Minimal knowledge of contemporary substance abuse treatment practices in a residential setting.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a high level of empathy.

· Ability to maintain sensitivity and objectively under pressure generated through association with our students.

· Proficient with basic computer skills including familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite products

Physical Requirements:

· The employee must frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment.

· Frequently required to stand for extended periods of time.

· Frequently required to perform physical work for extended periods of time.

· Frequently required to reach, walk, climb, pull, push, grasp, stretch, and stoop.

· Frequently required talk, hear, see, and use repetitive motions.

· Frequently able to communicate verbally and in written form.

· Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception, to complete daily tasks.

· Required to wear location appropriate clothing

· Ability to change direction as priorities shift.

· Ability to thrive in environments that require the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

· Ability to cope with occasionally difficult or temperamental students and faculty.

· Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress related to the position.

· Generally, in an indoor setting but may work outdoors.

· Works in outdoor elements such as heat, precipitation and wind.

· Will be working with commercial equipment and tools powered and non-powered.

· The noise level in the work environment is moderate loud to loud (70-90 dB).

· The temperature in the work environment is usually moderate to cool but can be cold.

· May travel locally as needed.
