~1 min readA well-established defense law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant (Defense) to support multiple attorneys in a fast-paced litigation practice. This role requires a highly organized professional who thrives in a deadline-driven environment, excels at managing competing priorities, and maintains the highest level of confidentiality and attention to detail.
- e-filing with the Federal, State (New York), and Southern and Eastern Districts of New York
- Entering expenses, drafting documents
- Be able to support a minimum of 4 attorneys and assist with our associate pool. The associates are not directly assigned to a legal assistant, so we need someone who is highly organized, technical, and who is proactive with juggling their assigned attorneys along with the assignment requests submitted to the pool by the associates.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys throughout all phases of litigation.
- →Prepare, revise, proofread, and format legal documents, pleadings, correspondence, and court filings.
- →Create and maintain Tables of Contents and Tables of Authorities.
- →File documents electronically in state and federal courts.
- →Manage attorney calendars, schedule meetings, coordinate travel, and assist with case management.
- →Support trial preparation, legal research, billing, expense reports, and other administrative functions.
- →Maintain organized electronic and physical case files.
- →Serve as a professional point of contact for clients, courts, and internal team members.
Requirements
~1 min read- Minimum 3 years of litigation legal assistant or legal secretary experience in a law firm environment.
- Strong knowledge of state and federal court procedures and e-filing systems.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, including document formatting, TOC, and TOA creation.
- Experience with Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, and legal document management systems.
- Excellent proofreading, grammar, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
