Responsibilities

- →Manage daily lab operations, including receiving/logging deliveries, monitoring stock levels, and placing daily orders.
- →Coordinate with accounting for invoices and purchase orders to ensure a steady supply chain.
- →Maintain lab tidiness and safety by cleaning common bench areas and general-use equipment.
- →Manage the sterilization cycle: washing and autoclaving glassware, pipette tips, tubes, and plates.
- →Troubleshoot laboratory equipment and schedule routine maintenance or repairs.
- →Reagent & Strain Support:
- →Prepare high-quality liquid media, agar plates, buffers, and stock solutions for molecular biology.
- →Prepare and validate competent yeast and E. coli cells.
- →Assist in the systematic banking and cataloging of engineered strains.
- →Technical Research Support:
- →Execute routine molecular biology tasks including PCR, DNA assembly (cloning), and plasmid preparation.
- →Perform yeast transformations and strain verification via colony PCR and gel electrophoresis.
- →Conduct routine laboratory assays and protocols, including spectrophotometry (OD600 measurements), plate-based colorimetric assays, and sample preparation for downstream analysis
- →Document all work accurately in Electronic Lab Notebooks (ELN) and follow established SOPs.
- →Perform other duties as assigned[1]
Requirements
~2 min read- Education: B.S. in Biology, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, or a related field.
- Experience: 1–2 years of relevant laboratory experience (industry, internship, or intensive academic research).
- Hands-on experience with basic molecular biology techniques (PCR, gel electrophoresis, cloning).
- Familiarity with microbial culture (yeast or bacteria) and aseptic technique.
- Outstanding organizational and time-management skills; ability to prioritize tasks in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
- Physical ability to lift 40 pounds and perform repetitive lab tasks.
- Experience operating analytical equipment such as HPLC systems, and comfort with related workflows is a plus.
- Experience with Benchling or similar digital lab management tools is a plus.
