Duties & Responsibilities:

• Oversee all operations related to unloading, ensuring operating efficiency and maintaining commodity quality, including Specialty Grain & By-product Procedures.    
• Develop a comprehensive understanding of atl plant rules, procedures, and practices.
• Ensure a safe work environment for all employees by promoting and enforcing plant rules, procedures and practices.
• Attend monthly safety meetings to stay informed and contribute to safety initiatives.
• Attend our daily safety toolbox meetings.
• Familiarize oneself with the empkoyee handbook to adhere to company policies.         
• Understand and comply with ail operating permits such as air and water quality, fleeting, weighing, etc.
• Responsible for filling out facility permits including hot work, compressed air, confined space entry, grain storage structure entry, lockout/tagout, etc.
• Maintain proper fleeting (arrangement and movement) of barges. If unsure of fleet requirements, ask for assistance from the Superintendent.
• Supervise the unloading of barges and rail cars, checking weights and comparing them to origin weights if available. Notify the shift superintendent of any discrepancies.
• Coordinate the ordering of barges/rail and release of empties, communicating any concerns to the Plant Superintendent or traffic department regarding deliveries or fleet management.
• Bin grain as directed by the shift superintendent, considering quality, toxin levels,
• Keep complete records of all commodities unloaded and update the inventory system accordingly throughout the shift. Ensure re-examinations are conducted as needed and complete status reports accurately, with house soundings 530am/pm (updated els and bin boards) completed with mix and additional unloads @ 0700.          
• Maintain an updated board with storage bin information including commodities and grades.
• Directly communicate any operational problems to the shift superintendent for timely resolution.
• Relay all pertinent rail information to the railroad, both inbound and outbound.
• Prioritize unloading to shipping bins whenever possible.
• Ensure barge unload times adhere to advised bill weights (all barge unloads should be completed in an average of 45-55,000 bushels per hour; notify an outside supervisor if discrepancies occur)
• Complete all required paperwork accurately and daily.
• Participate actively in morning safety meetings to discuss safety issues and strategies.
• These duties encompass overseeing operational efficiency. ensuring compliance with safety protocols, maintaining accurate records, and effectively communicating with various stakeholders within the organization.
• Request shift superintendent to review any daily required paperwork prior to sending off.

Position Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Previous leadership experience in a grain, production, or similar environment          
• Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team environment.

• General computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and webbased applications.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, sitting, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, working in confined spaces or at heights, and lifting to 50 lbs. unassisted.
• Regular and prompt attendance required.
• Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
