We are seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Group Accountant to join our dynamic finance team. This role is ideal for a qualified accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with business partnering.
As a key member of the finance function, you will support the Group Financial Manager, CFO, and wider business by ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, managing fixed assets, assisting with compliance activities, and providing valuable financial insights that support decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- Assist with monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
- Prepare and review month-end journals, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Review and analyze general ledger transactions and account balances.
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reporting accuracy.
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register.
- Manage asset capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and transfers.
- Monitor capital expenditure and asset-related reporting.
- Coordinate with operational teams, financiers, and insurers regarding assets.
- Process local and international payments.
- Support vehicle financing and banking relationships.
- Manage insurance portfolios, claims, and renewals.
- Oversee finance-related aspects of fleet management.
- Support statutory and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Assist with VAT, PAYE, CIPC, and related compliance processes.
- Liaise with external service providers, auditors, and regulatory bodies.
- Participate in audits and annual financial statement preparation.
- Partner with operational teams to provide financial guidance.
- Support stock accounting, procurement, and cost management processes.
- Investigate financial discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
- Drive process improvements and strengthen financial controls.
- Provide technical accounting guidance across the business.
- Coach and support finance team members.
- Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a backup for other Group Accountants and the Group Financial Manager when required.
Requirements
~1 min read- BCom Accounting, Financial Management, or related qualification.
- BCom Accounting will be advantageous.
- Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience in a similar accounting role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, and financial reporting.
- Experience with Sage Evolution.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 applications.
