This position is responsible for the processing of work orders. Ordering and tracking of parts. Maintaining shop supplies to support fleet maintenance operations.
Receive direct supervision from the Fleet Manager.

Develop and maintain system of tracking fleet work orders and maintenance performed on all county vehicles and equipment.
Organize and manage current bench stock to include reconciling current inventory, ordering stock items, and purchasing parts specific to current work orders.
Inspects all parts orders received for accuracy and/or damage. Reconciles part orders to work orders or bench stock to ensure parts are charged to the proper vehicle.
Manage scheduled maintenance by tracking fuel consumption and issuing work orders to service personnel. Ensure that all parts required to perform scheduled services are available to service personnel by scheduled date.
Maintains and orders all supply items such as oil, shop supplies, anti-freeze, cleaners and other such consumables as required.
Involved in the acquisition and disposition of County purchased vehicles and equipment as directed by the Fleet Shop Foreman.
Prepares, recommends, and monitor the budget. Reviews and approves expenditures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Overtime may be required for snow removal, flood, and wildfire control and to ready equipment for operation.

Operate and use computer system to include inputting data into database programs.
Understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
Pass random drug and alcohol testing.

Ability to read and understand written documents, technical service manuals, and related materials and gauges as required for the performance of the job. Requires hearing for warning signals, radios, and diagnostic equipment.
Require occasional use of both hands and manual dexterity to operate power tools, vehicles, and equipment.
May require the ability to sit and perform administrative and/or computer work for significant periods of time. While performing the essential functions of this job the employee is occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Requires a full range of body movement including pulling/pushing, reaching, bending/stooping, kneeling, squatting, and twisting for occasional use of tools, to inspect vehicles and equipment, occasionally perform maintenance, and to frequently negotiate around equipment.
Require sufficient hearing and speech ability to communicate verbally in response to inquiries, complaints, and to speak to individuals or groups in an informational or instructional situation.
Working time may require irregular hours and/or on-call status.
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of the job.
Work is conducted in both an indoor shop and outdoor field environments. Incumbent experiences routine exposures and hazards of a typical office environment and frequent exposure to all types of weather conditions, dust, solvents, grease and oils. Frequently required to travel to other County office locations or work sites.
