The PCS Software Engineer is responsible for maintaining and developing software systems utilized to control and monitor Arconic’s manufacturing process. These software systems oversee the operation of our production machinery and are integral to production, quality, and safety. This Software Engineer reports though the Senior PCS Engineer and collaborates with a core group of Engineers throughout the plant.
The Software Engineer will primarily work Monday through Friday during daytime hours and support off-shifts as needed for your respective projects or designated areas.
- Support and Maintain the Aveva/PI system implementation
- Maintain and develop software systems utilized to control and monitor manufacturing processes. These software systems oversee the operation of our production machinery and are integral to production, quality, and safety
- Design and implement new process control systems as driven by new product development for the facility as well as modifications to existing processes
- Perform system upgrades to keep current with hardware and software that is still supported by the manufacturer or developer
- Maintain the upkeep of process control computers, software licensing agreements, and backups of software files to minimize downtime of manufacturing equipment
- Provide formatted data to the technical and process groups as requested
- Provide timely access to this data essential for the plant’s quality management program and rapid problem solving
- Solve quality and production issues associated with process control systems and develop software to diagnose quality and manufacturing issues
- Interact with vendors and consultants to pursue high quality equipment and services as it relates to process control systems
- Provide support and on call functions to assist in advanced troubleshooting as required to minimize downtime of production operations
- Willing to continually expand working knowledge and application of new hardware, software and programming techniques through training, vendor contacts and published media information.
- Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Management Information Systems; or Electrical Engineering with a Minor in Management Information Systems (MIS) or Computer Science from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 1-3 years of similar experience in the field.
- Academic projects or internships in sensors-development, Devices-to-application and vice-versa communication, Rockwell/GE/Siemens PLCs, Automation/Controls engineering, and Robotics.
- Familiarity with web applications using HTML, JavaScript, CSS and PHP.
- Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
- This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730, et seq.) and/or the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Authorizations from the relevant government agency may be required to meet export control compliance requirements.
