Responsible for evolving compensation practices and designing and developing broad-based compensation programs, leading and working special projects, providing consultative guidance to human resources business partners and laboratory leadership, delivering clear and consistent communications and education to key stakeholder groups and handles other work items as needed.  Utilize technical expertise in implementing compensation strategy, project management, and process improvement, to deliver innovative reward programs and solutions and drive sound compensation decisions. Responsible for performing a variety of complex activities including:  

  • Prepare high level materials and compensation solutions for senior leadership including: board materials, executive compensation analysis, bonus plans and other various presentations.

  • Consultant with leadership and human resource partners on compensation issues to understand issues, analyze trends, develop solutions and add new insight to drive sound compensation decisions;

  • Contribute expertise to ensure overall alignment of compensation with business strategy and objectives

  •  Implement compensation programs and communications to support future initiatives and current state

  • Manage highly visible programs coordinating with senior leadership that reward and appreciate employees, to boost morale and engagement.

  • Analyze effectiveness of existing compensation programs, policies, and procedures and recommend revisions and new programs consistent with trends and Argonne objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field and a minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in the compensation practice.

  • High knowledge of compensation principles, theory, practices and trends.

  • Excellent quantitative and statistical skills with ability to analyze data and tell the story.

  • Excellent analytical, project management, problem resolution and customer service skills.

  • Effective consulting capabilities, with strong relationship building skills, and interpersonal and communications (both written and verbal) skills.

  • Experience with compensation management software and HRMS systems

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Able to apply excellent business acumen and collaborative skills when resolving problems.

  • Must be well versed in state and federal laws and regulations pertaining to the compensation practice such as the Fair Labor Standards Act, Equal Pay Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  • Ability to model Argonne’s core values of impact, safety, respect, integrity, and teamwork.

The expected hiring range for this position is $95,250.00 - $148,590.00.

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as, but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, business considerations, internal equity, and external market pay for comparable jobs. Additionally, comprehensive benefits are part of the total rewards package.
