Project Electrical Engineer

About This Role

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for electrical engineering input and site oversight across the SIB portfolio, covering design review, procurement support, installation, testing and commissioning of electrical systems. The role ensures that electrical works are executed safely, in accordance with engineering standards, and within the approved budget and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

• Review electrical drawings, vendor data and equipment selections for SIB projects, and raise technical queries as required.
• Provide electrical engineering input during project scoping and budgeting to support workable, cost-effective solutions.
• Supervise contractor installation, alignment and commissioning of electrical equipment on site.
• Coordinate with maintenance and operations teams on plant tie-ins, shutdowns and equipment handover.
• Coordinate with the team to set/review appropriate strategies for all electrical aspects of projects.
• Review contractor method statements and electrical execution plans and resolve technical queries arising on site.
• Support the QA/QC Engineer with electrical inspections and close out punch-list items prior to handover.
• Maintain up-to-date technical documentation, including drawings, manuals and spare parts lists, for handover to operations.
• Provide technical input into contractor and vendor evaluations for electrical scope of works.
• Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor or authorized delegate.

Education, Work Experience & Key Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• A minimum of 5 years' experience ideally including exposure to a gold processing plant or comparable mineral processing environment.
• Proven Competency in the maintenance and project management of surface Process infrastructure especially refurbishment of a Processing Plant.
• Sound knowledge of rotating, static, and related equipment on an active mine processing site.
• Demonstrated experience in the electrical drafting and modification with CAD or related drawing applications.
• Demonstrated experience supervising contractors on an active construction site.
• Registration with the Ghana Institution of Engineers, or eligibility for registration, is an advantage.
• Strong technical and practical engineering judgement.
• Ability to make sound decisions under the time pressure of shutdowns and commissioning activities.
• Effective coordination with contractors, operations and maintenance personnel.
• Good understanding of the cost and schedule implications of technical decisions.
• Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications including word, excel, power point, outlook, and AUTO CAD (Electrical) or related electrical drawing tools.
• Comfortable working across both design review and hands-on site supervision
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
