Leading the Club team in managing and maintaining a safe facility and ensuring all health and safety policies are adhered to and that our teams are fully trained and confident in operating a safe club at all times. Leading the lifeguard team and leading on facilities management.

How does the HSM (H&S) deliver in their role:

On a daily basis:

• Complete a club walk-round engaging with members (SEE5) and checking on: cleanliness, maintenance, health and safety, standards and service delivery.

• Role module the company values and uphold the highest levels of member and team member safety standards and club standards with a proactive mindset and a see it fix it attitude.

• Review the prime compliance daily checks, ensure they have been diligently completed and actions are in place to address any contra-indications.

• Countersign the pool water quality test books checking that the readings are within the correct parameters and that where the test results are emergency 1 or 2 corrective action has been taken. Take action and provide coaching and training where required.

• Ensure the daily checks are carried out of all disability assistance devices and facilities within Club.

• Assist the Club in implementing and promoting the Company’s Inclusion and Diversity policy with all team members

• Act as the first line contact in club for Inclusion and Diversity issues.

On a weekly basis:

• Participate in a one-to-one meeting with your line manager and set/review targets and objectives.

• Review member feedback and take action while providing a response to the member or team member with the actions taken for any health and safety issues that arise.

• Attend weekly HOD meetings and brief team on current events and any health and safety actions/training required for the club team or club facilities.

• Conduct H&S weekly Prime Compliance check and review the prime compliance weekly checks for all Club areas and ensure actions are in place to address any omissions or defects.

• Check and sign off the previous week’s pool monitoring sheets (HS14) to check for correct completion, action where necessary and archive.

• Manage defects on Prime compliance.

• Complete all relevant actions from the Weekly Update.

• Ensuring the departmental schedules are completed 4 weeks in advance and maximise optimisation based on demand to exceed member experience.

• Checking schedules against the Time & Attendance system and completing payroll weekly.

• Review due diligence and safety management and take action and provide coaching and training where required including;

o Accident, incident and near miss reporting review and investigation

o Review & action any microbiological water sampling failures

o Review completion and recording of Legionella control tasks

o Conduct a full AED check

o Lift alarm checks

o Review Learning Locker course completion and follow up with HODs/Team Members as required

o Review control of contractors procedures and records.

o Review Prime Compliance defects and manage accordingly

o Undertake safety checks including disabled shower seats

• Ensure recruitment practices are compliant with Inclusion and Diversity policy.

• Recognise and report any issues regarding inclusion and diversity to the General Manager and report on Prime Safety

• Check the Intranet for updates and action as appropriate.

On a monthly basis:

• Hold a one-to-one meeting with all direct reports and set/review targets and objectives.

• Participate in a one-to-one meeting with your line manager focusing on the month’s performance, Agree necessary actions and progress these as relevant.

• Hold full departmental meetings to cascade the month’s performance results and update on actions and deliver training.

• Review the lifeguard rotas in line with labour productivity to ensure that the correct staffing levels are in place to maintain safety and to maximise the member’s experience of the club.

• Review delivery of the DL Clubs ways of operating and standards, addressing concerns raised by Mystery Member results and from the feedback systems.

• Conduct Team Member H&S inductions and ensure that Learning Locker and DBS checks (where required) are being undertaken.

• Work collaboratively with all club leaders to ensure monthly training is complete for all team members.

• Ensure that all licensing (liquor and entertainment) are up to date.

• Review and complete the next period’s lifeguard rotas in line with budgeted hours.

• Review the Duty Manager Rota and ensure adequately trained team members are on shift at all times for all areas to ensure the safety of both members and team members throughout all club operating hours.

Review due diligence and safety management and take action and provide coaching and training where required including;

o Complete a full accident, incident and near miss reporting incident analysis

o Conduct/formulate monthly H&S training and ensure that this is logged

o Review and conduct club safety task training (folder 8) as required

o Review team member qualifications and expiry including first aid, pool rescue and pool plant operators

o Review safeguarding DBS tracker

o Review keyholder contact details

o Review LTA tennis coach accreditation

o Review REPS PT level 3 accreditation

o Complete and review risk assessments

o Complete and review site specific risk assessment

o Complete and review personal risk assessments

o Complete and review COSHH assessments

o Lifeguard training has taken place and has been recorded within the monthly training documentation and the RLSS online portal has been updated accordingly.

• Conduct AED training as required

o Log into the MyEcolab website to check any recent service visits and ensure that any Ecolab technician recommendations have been actioned.

o Complete in-house GDPR Audit and feedback results to relevant HoD/GM, following up on previous month’s action plans.

• Cascade information to team members on the prevention of discrimination, and promote awareness of diversity, disability and equal rights.

• Coordinate relevant training to ensure all team members have an awareness of inclusion and diversity issues and are trained in the usage of relevant equipment (eg. pool hoists).

• Complete any tasks delegated by the GM.

On a Cycle/annual basis:

• Review due diligence and safety management and take action and provide coaching and training where required including;

• Undertake a full H&S self audit

• Undertake a full licensing audit

• Check completed child safety & safeguarding mapping documents

• Update crisis management records and ensure all relevant team members are trained

• Review statutory compliance documents including fire risk assessment and legionella risk assessment.
