Legum and Norman, an Associa company, is seeking a Community Management Director to lead, develop, and support a team of Portfolio Managers within our main branch office in Falls Church, VA. This key leadership role is responsible for strengthening team performance, developing talent, improving operational consistency, and supporting client retention across a growing portfolio.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives on developing employees, building team stability, and delivering consistent service in a dynamic community management environment. This individual will partner with branch and senior leadership to support business objectives, address complex client matters, and help shape the continued growth and effectiveness of the office.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of Portfolio Managers.
  • Establish clear performance expectations and promote accountability, professional growth, and consistent service delivery.
  • Support the development of newer and less experienced community management professionals.
  • Identify team strengths, development opportunities, and staffing needs.
  • Partner with senior leadership on hiring, team structure, succession planning, and workforce needs.
  • Promote employee engagement, retention, and a collaborative team environment.
  • Monitor team performance and support consistent execution of operational and client service expectations.
  • Serve as an escalation point for complex community association and Board of Directors matters.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with board members, vendors, internal stakeholders, and other business partners.
  • Partner with internal teams, including the Client Shared Service Center (CSSC), to promote operational alignment, service delivery, and issue resolution.
  • Support client retention and satisfaction by addressing service concerns, identifying solutions, and promoting proactive client communication.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, team effectiveness, and operational consistency.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Salary Range: $110,000 to $125,000

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, real estate, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience may be considered.
  • Community Management Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in community association management, including experience as a Community Manager, Portfolio Manager, or in a comparable role.
  • Leadership Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience leading, supervising, or managing a team, with demonstrated experience coaching, mentoring, and developing employees. Experienced in community management professionals preferred.
  • Knowledge of GAAP at a proficient level.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Advanced proficiency preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and professional communication skills.
  • Expert knowledge of business correspondence, including grammar, structure, punctuation, and spelling.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and support employee performance.
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills, including the ability to manage time-sensitive responsibilities.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and collaborative.
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality, sound judgment, and discretion in the performance of all duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining a high level of service and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to navigate complex client relationships and resolve escalated matters.
