Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, ATB, the VP Finance & CFO, ATB Wealth serves as the primary strategic advisor and financial steward for the Wealth & Investment Management Division. As a core member of the Wealth Senior Leadership Team, the CFO plays a decisive role in shaping the long-term strategic trajectory. This enterprise-level leadership role carries ultimate personal accountability for the financial integrity, regulatory standing, and capital resilience of ATB Wealth’s diverse subsidiaries. Beyond traditional controllership, the CFO acts as a high-impact catalyst for business growth, leveraging data intelligence to influence firm-wide decision-making and optimize financial performance across ATB Wealth’s various business lines; ATB Securities Inc., ATB Investment Management, Private Banking, ATB Insurance, and BCV Asset Management. ## Key Responsibilities Executive Strategy & Enterprise Leadership * Strategic Architecture: Partner with the Head of Wealth and Investment Management to design and execute multi-year strategic roadmaps that drive sustainable AUM (Assets Under Management) growth and market share expansion. * Capital Allocation and Optimization: Lead the strategic deployment of capital across Wealth subsidiaries, ensuring investments align with ATB’s risk appetite and long term ROI targets * Executive Influence: Serve as a voting member of the Wealth Senior Leadership team, providing the financial conscience of the firm while challenging the status quo to drive innovation. Financial Stewardship & Regulatory Accountability * Ultimate Accountability: Act as the Qualified CFO as per Canadian Securities Institute creditation for financial integrity, ensuring absolute compliance with CIRO (Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization) and ASC (Alberta Securities Commission) and other provincial/federal governing bodies. * Risk Mitigation: Oversee the integrity of the legal entities balance sheet and regulatory capital position, ensuring the organization remains resilient under various economic stress scenarios. * Governance Leadership: Lead executive level finance compliance conversations ensuring transparent communication with the ATB Subsidiary Board of Directors and the CFO while ensuring all ATB Wealth subsidiaries are financially compliant through strategies that minimize and mitigate risk. * Regulatory Leadership: Takes the lead role in interacting with regulators and external and internal auditors. Develops and provides arguments for presentation to regulators; collaborating with ATB legal department as required Business Intelligence & Performance Transformation * Predictive Insights: Shift the finance function from retrospective reporting to predictive modeling, utilizing data analytics to identify emerging market trends and revenue leakage. * Operational Excellence: Oversee the integration of financial systems across diverse subsidiaries (BCV, Private Banking, Insurance, ATBIM, ATBSI) to create a single, high-fidelity source of truth for the enterprise. * Profitability Management: Drive deep-dive analysis into client and product profitability to refine the firm’s value proposition and pricing strategies. Talent Advocacy & Organizational Capability * Leadership Development: Build and mentor a high-performance finance leadership team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, psychological safety and technical excellence. * Develop strategies and business plans that aim to build long-term capability within the Finance function, contributing to the firm’s ability to realize strategic goals. * Stakeholder Orchestration: Navigate a complex matrix environment, aligning Wealth specific financial goals with the broader ATB Financial corporate objectives. * Communicate the vision: Communicate related strategies with all team members, ensuring alignment and execution by establishing clear expectations with Senior Leadership in each key area. ## Core Skills and Observable Behaviours * Visionary -Identifies value opportunities for ATB and ATB clients; shapes agenda and priorities in and beyond their own domain. Able to inspire and motivate ATB SLT , the ATB Board, and other audiences across the enterprise. Is an exceptional communicator with demonstrated ability to build relationships with senior leadership and front-line team members. Able to explain technical concepts to business leaders. * Influence - Able to effectively drive change in a dynamic operating environment. Comfortable to work across business lines to influence and effect change to achieve common goals. ## Accreditation * Core accounting designation: A CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant) designation in good standing is mandatory. * Regulatory Certification: Must meet the requirements for Chief Financial Officer (CFO) status as defined by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization. * Advanced Securities Education: Completion of the Partners, Directors and Senior Officers Course * Executive Tenure: Minimum of 12-15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in an executive level role (VP or equivalent) in the investment industry * Regulatory Diplomacy: A sophisticated ability to engage with regulators (CIRO, ASC) not just as a compliance officer, but as a credible representative of the firms’ stability and integrity. * Systems Thinking: Experience overseeing the modernization of financial tech stacks to improve enterprise-wide data transparency. * Domain expertise: Comprehensive experience navigating the financial complexities of Wealth Management, Asset Management and Private Banking, including a deep understanding of capital adequacy requirements. * Expert analytical and financial management knowledge required * Ability to make decisions and strategic plans based on analytical and modelling data * Comprehensive understanding of and demonstrated ability to lead, manage and motivate a team who implement effective internal controls over financial reporting along with the skills and knowledge to coach other financial associates Don’t meet all the requirements on the list?
