Program Duration: 10 Weeks | Summer 2027
Target Students: Undergraduate and Graduate Students – Environmental, Health & Safety or related field
At ATI, we engineer specialty materials that power the next generation of aircraft, spacecraft, surgical implants, and energy systems. As an EHS Intern, you’ll gain hands-on experience supporting safety initiatives across ATI’s manufacturing operations. You’ll work with EHS professionals and plant teams to identify risks, strengthen safety awareness, and develop practical solutions that help create a safer workplace.
Depending on your project assignment, you may:
- Develop and facilitate facility safety inspections to identify potential hazards and opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct formal task-based risk assessments to evaluate potential hazards associated with specific work activities and recommend appropriate controls.
- Evaluate AI and similar technology solutions that could improve safety communication, awareness, and engagement.
- Partner with EHS and operations teams to support facility safety initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
- Document findings and communicate recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
- Hands-on experience supporting Environmental, Health & Safety programs in a manufacturing environment.
- Practical experience conducting facility safety inspections and hazard identification.
- Experience performing task-based risk assessments and evaluating potential safety risks.
- Exposure to innovative technology and AI applications for workplace safety.
- Development of safety communication and awareness strategies.
- Experience collaborating with EHS professionals and manufacturing operations teams.
- Opportunities to strengthen problem-solving, communication, and risk assessment skills.
- A deeper understanding of how EHS principles are applied in a real-world manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a degree in:
- Environmental, Health & Safety
- Occupational Safety & Health
- Environmental Science
- Industrial Hygiene
- Related field
- Interest in working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to identify potential workplace hazards and opportunities for improvement.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with EHS and operations teams.
- Interest in safety technology and innovative approaches to safety communication.
