We're a recently funded, high-growth startup at the intersection of Information Technology and Bio Technology, tackling some of the most complex IT challenges in the world. We are seeking a Senior Research Associate (SRA) who will be involved in research and development activities towards developing the company’s proprietary Enzymatic DNA synthesis on semiconductor chips.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →Support and contribute towards the research and development of a custom high-throughput DNA synthesis platform for DNA data storage
- →Operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting of DNA synthesizers
- →Preparing stock reagents for in-house phosphoramidite and enzyme based DNA synthesis processes, including reagent prep using a humidity controlled glove box
- →Perform characterization of a variety of surfaces using surface characterization tools and techniques
- →Perform characterization of buffers and reagents by using metrics such as pH, moisture content measurement, purity, etc.
- →Running, maintaining, and troubleshooting analytical tools for assessment of quality of oligonucleotides, including HPLC, LCMS, and capillary electrophoresis
- →Utilizing lab management and data analysis software to document data, monitor reagent quality, and produce scientific presentations and reports on experimental findings
- →Managing variety of workflows start to finish including inventory management
- →Handling organic and inorganic chemicals and hazardous lab waste with safe chemical handling practices is required
Requirements
~1 min read- Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree with 4–6 years of relevant work experience or a Master's degree with 2–3 years of experience in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in executing multistep organic synthesis and diverse purification methodologies
- Proven track record with standard analytical tools and procedures, such as LC-MS, HPLC, and UV-vis spectroscopy
- Background in utilizing surface characterization instruments, including fluorescence microscopy, contact angle measurements, and ellipsometry
- Hands-on expertise in bioconjugation and click chemistry for the functionalization of biomolecules and surfaces is desirable

Mobility: Must be able to move about the laboratory and office environment regularly. This includes standing and walking for extended periods, often up to 6–8 hours per day.
Manual Dexterity: Must have fine motor skills and steady hands to handle delicate instruments, operate laboratory equipment, pipette accurately, and perform repetitive benchwork with precision.
Lifting/Carrying: Must be able to lift and carry up to 40 pounds occasionally, such as boxes of lab supplies or equipment.
Visual Acuity: Must have sufficient visual acuity to read small print on labels, instrument displays, and computer monitors. Close vision, color vision,and the ability to adjust focus are required.
Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively in spoken and written English, including reading technical documents and participating in team meetings.
Environmental Conditions: Frequently exposed to typical laboratory conditions, including biological samples, hazardous chemicals, and reagents. Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as lab coats, gloves, and safety goggles as required.
Posture: Requires frequent standing, sitting, and occasional bending or reaching over lab benches or into biosafety cabinets.
