About This Position
This position manages the day-to-day operations of the Field Training Program with limited direction from the Sworn supervisor. Providing consistency and leadership, this role determines program goals, objectives, and resource deployments, establishes program standards, policies, and procedures, coordinates and collaborates with multiple stakeholders involved in and affected by the program, evaluates program effectiveness, implements improvement strategies, tracks the progression of probationary police officers, schedules training, provides support for patrol personnel, all while ensuring appropriate record retention standards. Finally, this position works closely with assigned staff to collect and analyze feedback from participants in order to design and implement program improvements.
Under general supervision serves as a subject matter expert related to continual improvement activities which includes quality assurance, process improvement and risk mitigation activities within the organization.

Supports projects related to the development of improvement of organizational programs, processes, and systems.

Uses quality assurance methodologies to assist with current state analysis assessments.

Conducts continuous improvement projects for business units within the organization.

Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.

Knowledge of applicable City of Austin, State, and Federal statutes, ordinances, and codes.

Requirements

Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
Knowledge of TCOLE requirements.
Knowledge of audit practices.
Knowledge of leadership techniques.
Familiarity with law enforcement culture.
Knowledge of principles and practices associated with Field Training.
Skill in collecting and analyzing participant feedback.
Skill in planning and coordinating programs.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.

Ability to work in fast-paced, critical environment.
Ability to use computers and various software applications.
