About Avalere Health

United by one profound purpose: to reach EVERY PATIENT POSSIBLE. At Avalere Health, we ensure every patient is identified, treated, supported, and cared for. Equally. Our Advisory, Medical, and Marketing teams come together – powerfully and intentionally – to forge unconventional connections, building a future where healthcare is not a barrier and no patient is left behind.

Achieving our mission starts with providing enriching, purpose-driven careers for our team that empower them to make a tangible impact on patient lives. We are committed to creating a culture where our employees are empowered to bring their whole selves to work and tap into the power of diverse backgrounds and skillsets to play a part in making a difference for every patient, everywhere.

Our flexible approach to working allows our global teams to decide where they want to work, whether in-office or at home based on team and client need. Major city hubs in London, Manchester, Washington, D.C., and New York, and smaller offices globally, serve as collaboration hubs allowing our teams to come together when it matters. Homeworkers are equally supported, with dedicated social opportunities and resources.

Our inclusive culture is at the heart of everything we do. We proudly support our employees in bringing their whole selves to work with our six Employee Network Groups – Diverse Ability, Family, Gender, LGBTQ+, Mental Health, and Race/Ethnicity. These groups provide opportunities to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and to connect, learn, and socialise through regular meetings and programs of activity. We are an accredited Fertility Friendly employer with our Fertility Policy, enhanced parental leave, and culture of flexibility ensuring every employee feels supported across their family planning journey and can work in a way that suits their family’s needs.

We are deeply invested in supporting professional growth for our employees through day-to-day career experiences, access to thousands of on-demand training sessions, regular career conversations, and the opportunity for global, cross-capability career moves.

We take pride in being part of the Disability Confident Scheme. This helps make sure you can be interviewed fairly if you have a disability, long term health condition, or are neurodiverse. If you'd like to apply and need adjustments made, you can let us know in your application.

About SenseLab

SenseLab is Avalere Health’s distributed Center of Excellence at the intersection of primary market research, experience strategy, and AI-enabled insight transformation.

We integrate qualitative and quantitative research, behavioral science, and journey design to generate actionable insight across the product lifecycle, from early asset strategy through launch and lifecycle optimization.

Our focus is not only on generating insight, but on translating it into strategic direction that drives decision-making and impact.

About The Role

We are seeking a Senior Consultant – Primary Market Research (PMR) with strong strategic consulting experience and deep expertise in qualitative and quantitative methodologies.

This role sits at the nexus of research and strategy: leading primary research while translating findings into clear strategic recommendations, positioning, and experience implications.

You will lead core workstreams, manage clients with autonomy, and act as a thought partner in shaping decisions across brand, medical, and access strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Design and deliver qualitative and quantitative research aligned to key business questions

  • Define research objectives in the context of broader strategic challenges (e.g., positioning, launch readiness, experience optimization)

  • Select and apply appropriate methodologies (IDIs, ethnography, surveys, conjoint, segmentation, etc.)

  • Ensure research is hypothesis-driven and decision-oriented, not purely exploratory

  • Oversee recruitment, vendors, and fieldwork quality

  • Synthesize research into clear, actionable strategic implications

  • Identify unmet needs, behavioral drivers, and key tensions within the market

  • Develop outputs such as:

    • Positioning frameworks

    • Segmentation and targeting strategies

    • Message and concept optimization

    • Strategic imperatives for brand and portfolio decisions

  • Move beyond reporting to provide clear recommendations and direction

  • Lead quantitative design and interpretation, including:

    • Segmentation

    • Message and concept testing

    • Conjoint and trade-off analyses

  • Translate data outputs into commercially meaningful insights

  • Partner with analytics teams where deeper modeling is required

  • Ensure outputs are accessible, credible, and decision-ready

  • Apply research to inform patient, caregiver, and provider journeys

  • Translate findings into personas, behavioral archetypes, and experience opportunities

  • Ensure research connects to experience design and downstream activation

  • Contribute to journey development across both static and digital environments (e.g., SenseMap)

  • Act as a strategic advisor to clients, not just a research lead

  • Lead workstreams, client discussions, and insight readouts

  • Manage timelines, budgets, and day-to-day client engagement

  • Facilitate discussions and workshops to align stakeholders around insight and strategy

  • Mentor junior team members and guide their development

  • Collaborate with Experience Strategy, Medical Affairs, Marketing, and Market Access teams

  • Ensure research is integrated into broader strategic and commercial programs

  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary engagements across the product lifecycle

  • 7+ years of experience in primary market research and strategic consulting within healthcare, pharma, biotech, or life sciences

  • Demonstrated ability to connect research to strategic decision-making

  • Strong experience in:

    • Segmentation and targeting

    • Message testing and positioning

    • Survey design and quantitative analysis

    • Insight-driven strategy development

  • Experience working across patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable recommendations

  • Strong executive communication and storytelling skills

  • Experience managing teams, vendors, and client relationships

  • Experience supporting early asset strategy, launch planning, or lifecycle optimization

  • Exposure to rare disease or specialty therapy areas

  • Familiarity with digital insight platforms or living insight repositories

  • Experience contributing to business development and proposal development

SenseLab combines rigorous primary research with strategic consulting, experience design, and AI-enabled tools to create living, actionable insight ecosystems.

We are building a differentiated model — where insight is not the endpoint, but the foundation for strategy, decision-making, and impact — in service of Every Patient Possible.
