At Anglian Water, we believe education and community engagement play a vital role in creating a more sustainable future. We're looking for passionate Community & Education Outreach Leads to inspire communities, engage young people and help shape positive behaviours around water and the environment.

This is an exciting opportunity to take ownership of education and community engagement programmes within our A-WINEP (Water Industry National Environment Programme) locations, helping to deliver meaningful environmental outcomes while making a real difference to the communities we serve.

Anglian Water’s A-WINEP (Advanced Water Industry National Environment Programme) will help to remove barriers to partnership working in order to deliver Nature-based Solutions (NbS) at a scale not seen before in our region.

The Urban Regeneration programme focusses on the creation of Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) across Southend and the surrounding City as we take a nature first approach to reducing storm sewer overflows and surface water flooding.

Responsibilities

As our Community & Education Outreach Lead, you'll design and deliver engaging education sessions, community events and behaviour change initiatives that promote sustainable water use and environmental awareness.

Working across schools, community groups and partner organisations, you'll translate technical topics into inspiring, accessible learning experiences for audiences of all ages. You'll also build strong partnerships with local stakeholders, helping to maximise the impact of our programmes and represent Anglian Water within the community.

No two days will be the same as you:

  • Design and deliver engaging education and community outreach programmes.

  • Inspire children, young people and adults through interactive learning experiences.

  • Build lasting relationships with schools, Parish Councils and community organisations.

  • Evaluate programme success and use insight to continuously improve delivery.

  • Collaborate with colleagues across the business to support wider environmental and sustainability objectives.

  • Act as a passionate ambassador for Anglian Water within the communities you support.

You'll be a confident communicator who enjoys engaging with people from all backgrounds and can adapt your approach to suit different audiences.

You'll also have:

  • Experience delivering education, training or community engagement programmes.

  • The ability to explain technical or complex information in an engaging and easy-to-understand way.

  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Experience building strong relationships with external stakeholders.

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Confidence working independently while collaborating with colleagues across different teams.

  • A passion for sustainability, education and making a positive impact within local communities.

A teaching or training qualification, experience working across both education and community engagement settings, and knowledge of the National Curriculum would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence and business car insurance are essential, as regular travel across your allocated area will be required, with occasional evening and weekend working to support community events. A suitable DBS check will also be required for this role.

Inclusion is for everyone and we are an equal opportunity employer, which means we’ll consider all suitably qualified applicants regardless of gender identity or expression, ethnic origin, nationality, religion or beliefs, age, sexual orientation, disability status or any other protected characteristic. We recruit and develop our people based on merit and their passion for creating better outcomes, and we’re committed to creating an environment where all our colleagues feel they belong.

Help us inspire the next generation, strengthen our communities and protect our environment for years to come. Apply today and make every drop of your potential count.
