At Axon, we’re on a mission to Protect Life. We’re explorers, pursuing society’s most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.

Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you’ll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.

Axon equips the world's public safety agencies with technology that captures truth, improves accountability, and protects lives. Our products run from body-worn cameras that de-escalate critical encounters to in-car systems, interview room solutions, mobile apps, and a growing set of signals and sensors. How officers stay connected in the field is central to all of it, and that is where the next opportunity sits.

You will lead a team of product managers to define a new product built from the ground up across hardware, software, and cloud, the first entry in a zero-to-one portfolio with the potential to become one of Axon's biggest pillars. In this role you help shape the product strategy, drive definition and prioritization with your team, and partner across the organization to move it forward. Your work helps determine whether agencies adopt the product and officers trust it in the field. The role reports to the CEO of Axon 911.

The opportunity is a 0-to-1 business. You will build the product from scratch, and the ceiling is large enough to make it one of Axon's biggest pillars.

  • The target category is large, underserved, and central to how public safety agencies operate in the field.
  • The new device generation moves agencies onto a single connected platform, similar to the move from a feature phone to a smartphone.
  • Success in the early phase means winning the first agency deployments and proving field reliability, then expanding across [target segments: e.g., large municipal agencies, state police, federal.]

You lead the product across strategy, definition, and execution alongside your team. You help shape the vision and the roadmap, work through the trade-offs that engineering and design build against, and keep the program moving from first prototype toward large-scale agency deployment. You partner with engineering, design, hardware, supply chain, and go-to-market leaders, and you help carry the product narrative to executives, agency decision-makers, and the field.

Responsibilities include:

  • Product strategy: Own the multi-year vision, target segments, and the sequence of bets that get the product from early deployments to large-scale adoption. Own the full product lifecycle from definition through go-to-market and iteration.
  • Definition and execution: Turn how officers work and communicate in the field into clear product requirements. Own the roadmap and the trade-offs across performance, reliability, battery life, security, and cost.
  • Customer obsession: Build direct relationships with agency leaders and officers. Start from the customer problem and ground every major decision in customer evidence and field data.
  • Cross-functional leadership: Partner with hardware, firmware, cloud, and design engineering leaders to turn device and system constraints into product decisions, and with go-to-market teams to land deployments that hold up in the field.
  • Team building: Hire, coach, and lead a team of product managers. Set the bar for written thinking, customer discovery, and measurable outcomes.
  • Accountability: Define the metrics that show whether the product is working (adoption, field reliability, officer trust) and report against them honestly, including when the data says a bet was wrong.
  • 10+ years in product management, with a track record of driving growth in technical product lines that combine hardware and software, ideally deployed in the field at scale.
  • Direct experience shipping both hardware and software products, and comfort owning the full device plus platform experience rather than one layer of it.
  • Experience taking a new hardware product from 0 to 1, from early concept through launch and into market traction.
  • 4+ years leading and building product teams, setting strategy that shipped and moved the business.
  • Credibility with senior engineering leaders across embedded, firmware, and cloud domains, and the judgment to make trade-offs where field performance matters more than feature count.
  • The ability to lead without formal authority, bringing executives, engineering, and external partners to one roadmap despite competing priorities.
  • Strong written communication. You can turn an ambiguous, high-stakes problem into a clear document that drives a decision.
  • Experience with connected devices, communications products, or mission-critical systems is a strong plus.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant experience matters more than a specific degree.
