Deputy Media Manager
A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen in Maritime Defence Solutions for a Deputy Media Manager. As Deputy Media Manager you will report to the Media Capability Engineering Manager (MCEM) and act as the deputy for the MCEM in their absence.
The role is particularly focused on comprehending and applying a depth of specialist knowledge to develop media and courseware in support of naval technical training programmes. Additionally, the role requires an understanding of business and engineering processes, plus some awareness of the customer domain and may require direct customer engagement as deemed appropriate. There is a requirement to support the MCEM leading and influencing a team of Media Developers through development and day-to-day work package management with some reporting as required. As Deputy Media Manager you will also ensure media and courseware is developed consistently and to the required standard, i.e. direct reviewing of materials. The role is currently focussed on Type 26 (T26) but support to other projects may be required and certainly as T26 progresses towards completion.
Your main responsibilities as Deputy Media Manager:
· Provide Media expertise across Analysis & Design (A&D) focussed on T26 but supporting others if deemed appropriate by the MCEM.
· Support use and management of agreed tools, software and systems required for media development.
· Liaise with the Technical Authorities to refine / amend media and courseware development processes.
· Adhere to and promote BAE Systems governance, configuration and change control processes ensuring any appropriate updates to Media process documentation, i.e. style guide.
· Provide Media related Subject Matter Expertise to A&D opportunities and projects.
· Support Line Management of the Media Team to include but not limited to team comms, PDRs and day-to-day workload planning & tracking / reporting.
· Support the work management of the Media Team creating outputs across multiple complex products and engineering systems. Ensuring outputs meet customer requirements and expectations and are within scope in terms of time, quality and design certification.
· Monitoring, seeking and identifying opportunities for commonality of media output, as well as improvements where possible.
· Keep current with the range of training media available in the marketplace, spotting trends and patterns where development opportunities might lie.
· Support the MCEM undertaking courseware integration & acceptance activities including review of the output of designers and sub-contractor deliverables across the product lifecycle.
Your skills and qualifications:
· Be able to demonstrate sufficient experience of working and leading within a team comprised of technical, training and media specialists within Defence or the wider Defence Industry sector and have demonstrated the ability to lead such teams.
· Is able to demonstrate competence in the conduct of media design and development, either through the completion of a recognised education, training course(s) and/or through experience gained in the conduct of media design and development.
· Can support the conduct of Testing, Assurance and Acceptance, either through the completion of a recognised Audit/Validation training course or through experience gained in the conduct of Testing/Assurance Activities.
· Has some knowledge and experience in the application of the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT).
· Understands and can apply BAE Systems Life Cycle Management (LCM) or equivalent business governance framework.
· Has a good understanding of current learning and development methodologies and training methods and media (including but not limited to various levels and styles of Computer Based Training (CBT), multimedia, simulation, Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).
· Has expert knowledge and working experience of how Training Media supports efficient and effective training solutions.
