Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering (Process, Governance & Maturity)

• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the processes, methods, and toolsets used to govern and deliver requirements management and acceptance activities
• Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the processes, methods, and toolsets through which engineering configuration control is established, maintained, and assured
• Establish and maintain effective approaches for measuring and reporting engineering performance, maturity, and delivery status
• Ensure engineering management processes remain compliant with the mandated eLCM (Engineering Lifecycle Management) framework and project tailoring statement
• Manage the Integration of new Systems Engineering ways of working with the Business Management System (BMS)
• Develop and integrate Systems Engineering planning and maturity management approaches with the programme’s Project Control System
• Drive continuous improvement of processes, methods, and tools used to request, retrieve, manage, present, and share Systems Engineering information and knowledge with stakeholders

• Knowledge of Systems Engineering, with a solid understanding of the technical management processes and principles that underpin the discipline
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence team ways of working
• Proven requirements and acceptance management experience, including the management and control of requirements throughout the engineering lifecycle
• Good understanding of configuration control and change management, ideally within a complex engineering environment
• Experience using requirements and task management tools, such as DOORS and Jira, or similar platforms
• Knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) would be advantageous

You will join a team playing a critical role in the SSNA programme, helping to establish and embed a modern Systems Engineering capability across complex programmes. The team is driving a step-change in how Systems Engineering is applied, developing improved processes, tools, and ways of working that enable BAE Systems to meet the challenges of delivering the next generation of submarines.
