The Role:

We are seeking an Investment Reporting Manager who owns BakerAvenue's portfolio management and reporting platform and the data that flows through it. This role sits at the center of the firm's reporting ecosystem — maintaining the integrity of Client data, performance, billing, and management reporting, with particular ownership of alternative investment data. The right candidate pairs deep operational discipline with the curiosity to push the platform forward as the firm's needs evolve.

 

This position will be part of our San Francisco team and the ideal candidate will live in the Bay Area. This is a hybrid role that requires in-office presence Monday-Wednesday.

 

Candidates who do not have Portfolio Management System experience will not be considered.

 

 

Responsibilities:


System Ownership & Platform Management

  • Own the administration of Orion, the firm's portfolio management and reporting system.
  • Serve as the primary liaison to the vendor, investigating and resolving system and reporting issues.
  • Develop a working command of the firm's full reporting ecosystem and provide thought leadership to ensure the platform delivers the functionality the business needs as it evolves.
  • Roll out new functionality and train users across the firm.
  • Manage projects spanning alternative investments, portfolio reporting, and potential system conversions.

Alternative Investment Operations

  • Process and maintain alternative investment data across the firm's reporting ecosystem, including account statements, capital call notices, distribution notices, and tax documents (K-1s and tax estimates).
  • Own the completion of subscription documents for Clients investing in alternative investments.
  • Download, organize, and archive fund documents in the firm's document management system, and load documents into the alternative investment data platform for extraction and processing.
  • Communicate with fund managers, fund administrators, and custodians to obtain missing statements and notices, verifying that documents received reconcile to expected account sets.
  • Monitor internal task queues and workflow systems for alternative investment update requests.

Data Integrity & Reconciliation

  • Update market values, capital activity, and transaction data, ensuring information is accurate and current for Client reporting, billing, and management reporting.
  • Perform daily reconciliations and monitor delinked or unlinked accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
  • Conduct periodic reconciliations and audits to ensure data integrity across the reporting system and all downstream applications.

Reporting Delivery & Partnership

  • Provide quarter-end reporting support, including preparation, report generation, posting, and issue correction.
  • Respond to internal and Client custom reporting requests, collaborating with partners across the firm to deliver solutions.
  • Partner with the wealth advisory team to troubleshoot and resolve reporting issues.
  • Identify process improvements and contribute to productivity and efficiency initiatives that drive exceptional Client service and mitigate operational risk.

 

Qualifications: 

 

Required

  • 5+ years in portfolio operations or investment reporting.
  • Hands-on experience with Orion or a comparable portfolio management and reporting system.
  • Demonstrated experience with investment data, including alternative investments.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in economics, business, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong reconciliation and data integrity discipline, with a track record of resolving complex discrepancies.

Preferred

  • Experience managing a system conversion or major platform implementation.
  • Familiarity with alternative investment data platforms and document extraction tools.
  • Professional designation such as CIPM, CFA, or CFP®.
