An Inspection Associate I enforces City ordinances concerning the paving, repaving and repairing of alleys, footways and curbs by performing onsite inspections. The work of this class involves no supervisory duties or responsibilities.

Incumbents receive moderate supervision from a technical superior. Employees in this class work a conventional workweek; some evening and weekend hours may be required. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are regularly exposed to inclement weather, construction sites and traffic. Work requires minimal physical exertion; however, there may be periods of prolonged walking or standing.

On or before the date of filing the application, each candidate must:

  • Knowledge of concrete mixing and pouring.

  • Knowledge of City construction specifications, codes and standards.

  • Ability to inspect alleys, footways and curbs for damage and deterioration.

  • Ability to complete simple forms and reports.

  • Ability to communicate effectively.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with others.

All persons, including current City employees, selected for this position must complete a mandatory six-month's probation.

Qualified candidates will be considered for vacancies as they arise, for a period of at least six months. The decision of the Director of Human Resources with respect to acceptable minimum qualifications is final.                                                             

Applicants’ education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Education credentials obtained out of the US must be evaluated for US equivalency. Evaluation agencies information may be obtained at www.naces.org.
