About the Program: 

Baptist Health South Florida has partnered with Miami Dade Public Schools to provide seniors and juniors a valuable experience in the healthcare setting. This experience gives students a head start on their career, employability skills to be successful, employee training, financial earnings, and an opportunity to experience the Baptist culture of quality and clinical excellence in positions that are open for staffing purposes. The students will be offered information and didactic material about the Educational Programs offered by the Center for the Advancement of Learning and a possibility to enroll, should they wish, once they graduate from high school.

The cooperative education program allows a student to be released from the high school campus to work part-time in a job. It is truly  “cooperative” because four contractual parties are responsible for the success of  the program and sign an agreement: the school coordinator, the employer, the parent/guardian, and student. The student will become an employee of Baptist Health South Florida and compensated for work performed while in the cooperative education program.

• HSIP – Coop Ed High School Student.
• Enrolled as full time high school student in the Miami-Dade Public Schools Cooperative Education Program at a participating high school and be sixteen years of age or older at time of application for employment with Baptist Health South Florida.
• Food Safety Certification required within 6 months of hire.
• Excellent customer service skills required.
• Proven excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
