Our Markets & Transactions practice supports leading energy companies, developers, investors, lenders and infrastructure owners in making strategic investment decisions and navigating the energy transition. We work across the energy value chain, including utilities, IPPs and developers, integrated energy companies, institutional investors and lenders, helping them make informed investment and strategic decisions in rapidly evolving markets.
Our work combines market, technical, commercial and regulatory expertise, enabling us to support clients across the full investment lifecycle, from project development and capital deployment to commercial strategy and new business opportunities.
Within this context, Iberia is one of Europe's most dynamic power markets and a key area of focus for our team. In this role, you will work extensively on renewables, battery storage and flexibility, helping clients understand how assets are valued, contracted, financed and operated across Spain and Portugal. Working alongside market specialists and directly with clients, you will contribute to strategic and investment decisions that support the continued development of the energy transition in the region.
Responsibilities

Iberian market expertise: Develop and apply a deep, practical understanding of Spanish and Portuguese wholesale power markets, including market design, regulation, network access, balancing and ancillary services, and translate market insights into actionable client advice.

Battery storage and flexibility: Assess the value of standalone and hybrid storage projects, including revenue stacking across different markets, impact of current and envolving regulation, and contracted or tolling structures.

Market and Transactions engagements: Support strategic and transaction-related engagements with leading IPPs, developers, utilities and investors across Iberia, including growth strategy, investment and development strategy, portfolio value creation, commercial optimisation, route-to-market and market access.
- →Quantitative analysis and modelling: Build, run and challenge models of market fundamentals, asset revenues, dispatch and commercial performance, and interpret outputs from our in-house market models for clients.

Transaction support: Contribute to buy side and sell side commercial due diligence assignments across storage, renewables and low carbon infrastructure, helping clients evaluate value drivers, risks and routes-to-market.

Portfolio and asset insights: Analyse asset dispatch, hedging strategies and portfolio optimisation opportunities, working closely with developers and independent power producers.

Client delivery and ownership: Take ownership of analytical workstreams and produce clear, well-structured slides, reports and dashboards that turn analysis into practical recommendations. As you progress, you will increasingly lead workstreams, manage day-to-day client interactions and support the development of more junior colleagues.

Building the Madrid team: Contribute to proposals, thought leadership and the intellectual capital that underpins our Iberian offering, while helping shape the continued growth of the team.
Requirements
~2 min readThe ideal candidate will have experience in several of the following areas:

Experience: Up to 3 years of relevant experience gained in consulting, energy markets or related industries, including developers, utilities, independent power producers, trading houses, investors or lenders.

Iberian market knowledge: Working knowledge of Iberian wholesale electricity markets, market design, regulation and commercial structures, together with a strong interest in developing this expertise further.

Storage and flexibility: Experience in, or strong interest in, the valuation of batteries and other flexible resources, routes to market, and the commercial models that support them.

Strategy and transactions: Experience in, or strong interest in, commercial due diligence, growth strategy, market entry and transaction-related work within the power and energy sector.

Analytical skills: Strong quantitative and structured problem-solving skills, with advanced in Excel and PowerPoint capabilities. Experience with Python, R, SQL or Power BI would be advantageous.

Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Analytics, Mathematics or a related discipline.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate analysis into clear, concise and compelling recommendations for senior audiences.

Ways of working: Organised, proactive and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.

Languages: Fluent English and Spanish are required. Portuguese would be highly desirable.
