Responsibilities

The Systems Architect will support Barrow Wise's WMATA project and perform the following duties:

  • Experience in data architecture for large scale enterprise in private/federal/state agencies
  • Expert in data architecture principles, modeling (logical, physical: OLTP, OLAP), distributed computing knowhow
  • Ability to write designs for data architecture of custom solutions, data warehouse or data lake solutions or end to end data pipelines
  • Requirements gathering with business stakeholders, domain: agile teamwork, people data, hierarchies of project portfolio work
  • Ability to write requirements for ETL and BI developers
  • Intake prioritization, cost/benefit analysis, decision making of what to pursue across a wide base of users/stakeholders and across products, databases, and services,
  • End to end data pipeline design, security review, architecture, and deployment overview
  • Undertake cloud deployment responsibilities
  • Automate reporting views used by management and executives to decide where to invest the organization's time and resources, and stay up to date on key initiatives and products as well as technological advancements in the industry
  • Problem Formulation: Analyze the business problem within business needs and question assumptions to help the business identify the root cause. Set Big Data analytics, automation goals, and deliverables based on the established success criteria and define key metrics to measure progress and effectiveness of the solution. Quantify the business impact.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • US Citizenship
  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent experience
  • 10 years' experience as an enterprise architect using the standard architectural framework
  • Enterprise Architecture certification (CEA, TOGAF)
  • Experience performing architecture related work on at least five (5) IT systems
  • At least 10 years of verifiable experience in design and development of Enterprise Architecture perspectives performing the Data Architectural work within the technology governance framework for WMATA applications
  • Experience as an enterprise architect using the standard architectural framework
  • Experience developing Data Architecture perspectives
  • Experience with enterprise architecture repositories and tools (Abacus)
  • Experience interviewing and documenting stakeholder inputs to enterprise architecture projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel to perform basic financial analysis of business processes
  • Great with MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Visio, MS Project
  • Proven ability to implement IT governance process improvements
  • Perform high caliber qualitative and quantitative analyses
  • Ability to meet the requirements of the deliverables listed above
  • Experience in the transit industry
  • Ability to mentor, collaborate and coordinate with peers, customers, and stakeholders
